this is journey 2001 , augeri and cain trading off on anytime. its a very raw audience recording but shows how good the band was in 2001!! this show was loud as heck and was incredible!! augeri ruled this night ........

Listen to ANY boot of Perry and Rolie doing this song and you'll realize that this is an unimpressive rendition.

No kidding...he's a real touch of sunshine in the morning!

Augeri sounds pretty good, but I still don't love Cain's voice.

OK, I'm not blown away. Not a big fan of Jon's vocals anyway. Sorry, Lar

Yeah, so Frigas' voice isn't the greatest, but at least they sound good doing it, and they were live this night. Augeri did good here.

I don't see where Saint John was being sarcastic or trying to ruin anyone's good time. He was just being honest. I tend to agree with him. Augeri was really not a very good Steve Perry impersonator. What is wrong with saying that? If someone tried to take over for Mick Jagger in the Rolling Stones and wasn't as good as Mick, would it be wrong for fans to say so?

I saw Journey three times with Augeri, and although I liked hearing the rest of the band, Augeri was no Steve Perry. The last time we saw them in Saint Louis, Augeri was so far out of key it wasn't even funny. My wife and I left halfway through the show - and we drove 100 miles to see it.

LOL! Sorry, I guess I am just used to those Augeri-heads from the official Journey forum. If you say that Augeri looked cross-eyed, they will boot your ass off the forum.

This is one tune where I think it is better than the Perry version. Good performance there.

And which one is it? Something off Arrival?

Not an impersonator at all in my opinion, Steve just has a natural tone that is similar to Perry. Everyone says JSS is doing his own thing, but from the Marysville that I listened to, he enunciates like Perry a lot which makes him sound more similar to Perry than he actually is, I never felt like Augeri did that. Also JSS tends to use "ad libs" that are very similar to what Perry did live. Sounds like JSS is doing a good job, sounded better than I expected based on the VA Beach show I saw.

You can't be serious? The harmonies were off big time. Augeri was not singing in the same key that Perry sang in.

Get out your live Journey CD's from the Perry era and listen to this song. There is no comparison.

Peace.

Actually, seems there IS a comparison. 5 including Dean gave thumbs up in the thread.
