I still wonder..."How do they continue the Journey style?" I'm not trying to take anything away from the guys in the band (including JSS), but I have my doubts.
Fred:
I've got both of JSS's most recent solo albums, and he is already doing melodic rock similar to JOURNEY. I think SOUL SIRKUS's lack of performance (both concert attendance-wise, and sales-wise) will be enough to keep JSS/Schon from treading similar waters with new JOURNEY material. That was a whole other animal... music created without parameters. And the experiment basically failed, since Schon pulled the plug on it. Thank God it's tax-deductible for him!!!
Remember, JSS is a JOURNEY fan... has been for a while... my educated guess is that he will probably not want to do stray and do music that is not faithful to previous JOURNEY music.
As TNC stated, BELIEVE IN ME is a great track... true it is hard, but not any harder than anything on FRONTIERS. I heard the entirety of FRONTIERS earlier this year for the first time, and I was surprised how hard it rocked.... way more than ESCAPE in my opinion. Some of the tracks could have been Ozzy tracks!!! (I'm thinking of CHAIN REACTION.)
So, I don't think we have anything to worry about. I think we'll get a great, well-produced album from JSS and JOURNEY. It will have some great rockers, and some great ballads. The background vox will be impeccable. It will be a melodic rock gem. And since we get so few of these nowadays, it will be a cause for some serious celebration.
