I thought it was decent, also. Not great, but decent. The big problem was...he was trying to fill Howard Stern's "shoes". Personally, I don't find Stern all that funny (most of the time). Still, Roth was his "replacement"...and most people listening were expecting a Stern-like show. Didn't happen. I thought they should have given Dave more of a chance. It was a new "gig" for him...shit, give the man a chance to get comfortable with it. It takes time to build an audience. You can't just expect the guy to come in and pull down ratings like an established act (Stern). But...the threat of being "canned" was hanging over his head pretty much from the time his ass hit the chair. Really good working conditions, huh?
"Okay Dave...relax, be funny, and have a good show. Oh, and by the way, if you don't...you're fucking fired! Okay Dave? No pressure."
And I know, Roth is not for everybody. But then again, neither was Stern. Unfortunately though, in most everything these days, it's produce NOW or you're gone.
