OT: Can it get any worse?

Postby Clasicrockldy » Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:02 am

Ok..... I am sitting here with engine gunk on my hands, trying to figure out what happened with my car..........

You see....... I was on the way back from Wally World with ice cream.... :D ....... and at the turn lane to my street, my engine stops. I thought........ hey I must of taken my foot off the clutch....... no, I didn't.......... so I try to start it up.......... the engine sounds like it wants to start..... but no, it never catches........ so I push it home......... thank god it was only a 1/2 block to my apartment........ take the ice cream in the house and put it in the freezer...... call the school to tell them to tell my 10 year old to get on the bus.......... then find my trusty ford repair book and try to troubleshoot......... I did loosen the cover to the timing belt.......... timing belt and whatever those thingies are called aren't turning.......... Damn........ what can be wrong with this car?...........

Shit..... ... could this day get any worse? ............. :?

At least you saved the Ice Cream :) I'd just curl up on the couch witha big bowl of that, turn on the season premier of HOUSE MD and forget all my worries for a little while.

I have a Ford. There could be 184,396.2 reasons why it won't start. The most likely one is... it's a Ford.

I hope your timing belt/chain didn't let go. That could potentially suck.

My recommendation? Eat the ice cream and tomorrow buy a Chevy.

DON'T flame me for that, I SAID I own a Ford!!!!

The MAP sensor that controls the fuel pump could've died, too. Easy and cheap repair if that's it.

Don;t think I would look fist under the timing cover
first think to check would be gas related as Frye said

Once my car did that at HD
I went to go home and it wouldn't start
so I called AAA and when they came with the tow
the guy got in the car and put his foot on tha gas and it started
LOL

I did that too but sometimes it gets flooded well thats mostly carbuerators
guess they don;t have those anymore
or vapor or a particle in gas line or sensor or valve or fuell pump
so many things
but I wouldn;t be messing under the timing chain

I don;t even use my dinosaur Volvo with gas the price it is I walk or take the bus

Trick is find a fair priced honest mechanic\\
Good Luck

If you didn't hear a loud knock or clank, it wasn't the timing belt.

Dump that Ford..THAT is your main problem.

Excellent points. You can "flood" a fuel injector system, though. If the MAP sensor is bad or not working properly then your engine can run rich - it'll smoke like crazy and literally bounce up and down like it's about to explode.

Process of elimination - start with the simple stuff and move up like SS suggests.

This is the only the second time I have had a major or minor problem with my Ford...

Right now I am not even thinking about the car......... If I do......... I will go nuts.........I will start tomorrow talking to mechanics....

Whatever the problem is......... it will cost me $$....... since I am on a fixed income. It might be time to wash off the bike and use that until I figure out what the problem might be........

I wish I could buy a new car......... but again, it would be $$....... and I don't have that......

But I will look at it this way........... I won't have to buy any gas for awhile !

Thanks for listening to my rant............ You'd think this was Monday instead of Tuesday !

Sounds like some day you had there...sorry :(

I used to have a Ford and hated it....this is a long time ago too...

Whenever I wanted to start the car I had to pop open the hood and spray some crap called Quick Start into the carburetor....was a lovely thing

Quite often it WAS Found On Road Dead....I abandoned that thing so much, just calling cabs to get me home

Sorry I can't help, just sympathize with ya....

I'd rather be getting 47 MPG in an 84 diesel Rabbit. But I bought a V8 Ford, a V8 Chevy, and a BIG V8 Buick.

I'm getting a 4-cyl Toyota next, I swear. With a stick shift.

I'm on my second Ford Escape and I really love the vehicle! The first one was doing well...until I was hit head-on in the foothills. Totalled, but I was fine. This second one is great!

The last Ford before the Escape that was in the family was the infamous Ford Pinto! Remember those? Get hit from behind and it was nearly guaranteed to burst into flames. :D

PS - My daughter has a Ford Focus - a great little car!

Sallee, seriously, and this is to be kept on this board.

Simply drive your POS to the Union Pacific tracks later tonight. Go to a rural crossing....wait for a headlight....keep Bryn at home.....when the train gets about a 1/4 mile, abandon said POS, and run towards the train.....the crash will fly away from you....In about 5-10 business days, you will receive a check for the amount of the Ford, er, POS. Take that, and go buy a Chevrolet, or a Nissan or a Honda or a Toyota...anything but a POS Ford.

Trust me, this works. The RR has so much bank, they would rather just cut a check and be done with it.

Let me know how it goes. I'll be listening on my RR radio tonight. The speed limit by your house is 79 for passenger, 60 for freight. The speed is too fast for trains to stop, so you will definitely get hit.

Do it.

I cannot drive the damn car Deano ! I had to push it the rest of the way home, dude. Thank heaven's for a few people that happened to be on my street when I was pushing it. They helped me the rest of the way to my apartment and the parking lot. The sucker will sound like it wants to turn over and start the engine........but it won't do it. Making some noise too........I have to check the oil in it tomorrow...... and you know how far the RR tracks are from my place.......... :(
