hey , that was great t-bone!! some of aynsley's best work , i think , is on the whitesnake / whitesnake album ,, i couldnt believe that was him !! he just beats the skins to death,, i guess hes been a hired gun all his life,, that craig chaquico is amazing on guitar as well,, im not sure if neal digs him or not, when neal was asked waht he thought of acoustic planet, CC's album,, neal stated he was playing that style whle CC was still in diapers !!

Great incarnation of the Starship band.

Modern Times was a great album. Out of print, you can get it on ebay or Amazon in import. Whole thing rocked - Mickey, Grace, Aynsley, Craid Chaquico on lead guitar. And Mickey ("Fooled Around & Fell in Love") Thomas has those soaring-type vocals Journey fans can dig.

Just saw Mickey Thomas (and Starship) this past weekend and he hasn't lost a thing vocally. He still nailed all the notes on "Jane", "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" etc. without dodging a single high note.
Plus he sings Grace Slick's parts (during the songs that were originally done as duets) as well as she ever did.
Incredible singer!

I saw them at the Fresno Fair a number of years ago and he sounded great then. He's got a real "sweet" tenor. Good to hear he can still hit the notes. Is anyone in the band still connected with Airplane? Chaquico left a number of years ago. Kantner isn't there, is he?

There's nobody left from Airplane, Jefferson Starship or even the original Starship era (besides Mickey).
It's just Mickey with some newer musicians (though most have been with him for around a decade, I believe).

He did make mention of Grace Slick and say something about her sending her hello's, and that she is just concentrating on her art (painting) these days and has no immediate plans of returning to music. So it seems as if he is at least in contact with her.

I always liked Dunbar's playing. Mickey Thomas always had a great voice in his day, but I have to wonder if there isn't either lipping or extreme "help" involved these days. I saw him in a couple live shows, not recently, but he was terribly off-key and definitely not hitting any of his old highs.
OT: Did anybody see Foreigner live w/ Kelly Hansen?
