Its possible it is just a glitch in MySpace. I sometimes get that message trying to go to my own homepage on MySpace. Then a few hours later it miraculously reappears. I've been given explanations like 'server maintenance' etc as a reason.

My Space doesn't work like that. You can't simply "hide" your profile while you work on it. I also doubt they cancelled the account after just making it, especially if Jeff was working on it as claimed.
