Fair enough, you do cover a wide genre of styles. In my opinion, the metal style fits your voice best. When I hear "Stand Up and Shout" I think holy shit, that vocal is awesome. I'll give some of your other songs a spin again as a quick review though. Perry and Cooke both kick complete ass, we are in agreement there.
JSS wrote:Sorry to barge in but I must correct you...I am not a metal singer, I am merely A singer! I do & have done everything from Motown to Metal in my 22 years of professional singing, damn proud to say I have a wide genre & range to choose from, my comment was as you mentioned, Perry singing Stand Up wouldn't sound very masculine...but my friend, u must open your ears & listen to some of MY catalog & realize I can & have sung Perry's, Sam Cooke's, whatever, genre for many years as it IS my influence,
Dude, turn Journey up a notch, they could use a lot more rocking, not a little. Your voice is throatier than previous singers in Journey. In my opinion, it doesn't fit well with the past catalog and it is not what I expect to hear on Journey material. You've never heard me say that you're not a good singer. To be honest, I think your stage presence and energy on stage is the best I've seen, you rock bro. My son says you've have the coolest moves and I agree. I just don't think your voice fits with what Journey is expected to sound like. But that's only my opinion and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. The only reason I've been as outspoken as I have is because of Deano's complete 180 on the subject. I still think his opinion was swayed for reasons other than the music. So how many beers did you guys pound anyhow?

Maybe you didn't like Indy, maybe you won't ever like what I bring to the band, but bottom line is 'it is what it is', like it or lump it, I'm here, all the bitching & moaning aint gonna change it...not this tour anyway.
Hey man, no wars here either bro. There's just a lot of energy around this band because they have made such a close connection to a lot of fans. I'm glad you hopped in and voiced your opinion as well. It's cool to see you have the balls to give your perspective on the subject, its much appreciated. We still need to talk about your priorities dude! You should working the chicks before a show, not the keyboard!
JSS wrote:No wars here brother, I know it's all preference & opinions, I should just sit back & watch the comments back & forth but once in a while I like to throw my 2 cents in as well, I mean it is ME youre discussing, ha ha...shit, we're on 20 minutes, gotta run!
Alright man, if you were to pick one cd from your back catalog that would best represent your Journey singing style let me know. I'll buy it and give it few spins to see if I can come around. Believe in Me kicked some serious ass. The vocals weren't as high as Journey but it had the right groove.
Good luck and I hope the show went well.
