Just curious really. I used to work for a small independent press- art books mostly. I am thinking about a few options for a novel I'm working on. The cost can be enormous, as I'm sure you know. Did you have it printed in Romania? Did you do the design as well? I have a slew of questions for self publishing. Good on you for achieving this!

Actually, the book is printed in two places, the US and Spain. They work with the POD system(Print On Demand).

I did everything here...formatting,design,permissions etc...and yeah, lots of sleepless nights spent on writting in my second language.
Anyway,I sent the manuscript in the US and from there it was my job to purchase the publishing services...Distribution,publicity,marketing,etc.

This could be a good option for you too.
Beware of the vanity press. :!: I almost fell into that trap, but my literary agent saved me.l

I am sure you could write a book on Deano.

Hey, that's a good idea!
Let's all write a book & sell it too each other
I'll call mine

"The Melodrama of Melodic Rock!"

Nevermind

I'm saving my talents for the "The Official Steve Perry Journal"
From the lips of the voice that rocked a million hearts...

Congrats "Shania"

I was asked to contribute in March.
I didn;t receive any other information about the book
except it was about Rock N Roll & it was confidential info as the book was still being written.
Although I was extremely flattered
I declined for various reasons.

Is this an authorized biography or unauthorized?
Fans stories are fans stories.
There is so much of it on the internet available for free.
Thank you, Shania for putting it all together in one place.

If I had known Steve Perry was the sole subject of this book.....well things may have been different.

Well, that was the idea...To have SP's career story in one place. And in print, because I believe in the magic of the books...They will soon be gone and replaced by e-books and who knows what else. :( Internet is good,is free(sorta, lol),but it can't be compared to a real book.

Sorry for all the secrecy,Shadow.I had my reasons, too.

The book it's *unauthorized*,just as all the Steve Perry fan sites on the www are *unofficial*. :)

Looks similar to Amazon, so I'll get on in and buy it...as for e.books, you're way off track, no way will they take over printed material, they've been saying this for years, it'll never happen. Ever tried reading an article on your laptop while on the crapper  So go on, get on with your next book, avatars of sexy, partially clothed women and a few Faith Hill shots...fully naked......I'd buy that also S

Thanks for the info, Laura. We had most of our books printed in Spain as well- Jomagar, great place and nice brothers.

NIG!! A book on Dean  , perhaps a combo of Av and Deano on the road with Jeffie and Schonny . I've got a few stories that'll make you blush ;).
Until we meet again, may God

Shania I thnk you are a clever, smart and wily woman! What an idea! Compiling info from fans and putting it in book form! On one hand I think it was
ingenious and the other I think not only was it self serving and gratitious it was another example of someone taking something and turning it into a profit making venture. Sorry, I won't buy it unless Steve endorses the book.

Marabelle, it's $16 for fuck shake...just buy it, fuck the endorsements, it'll be a good read  We'll need glasses before SP endorses a book, unless it's one about domestic cats :?

Some of you are being a bit harsh on Shania. Lighten up, she had an idea and ran with it- good for her!! Can't people be happy for one another and hope for their success rather than failure. I doubt that money making was the sole motive here. I imagine it was a lot of work compiling all the info and writing a cohesive account in her second language. I for one am happy for Laura's achievement and hope she makes a friggin bundle!! Damn! :x

Marabelle, I think what you shouldn't have said is Profit Making, Shania will probably at best break even on this, and if you calculate the time spent on compiling in monetary terms, she'd be out of pocket. This is something for the fans from a fan. You meant well but perhaps worded it a little harshly. I shouldn't have snapped back either...sorry

 Taking a pot shot at another forum member's kind of uncool, isn't it? There are a lot of things that Steve probably doesn't endorse (like the live cuts that we're all constantly downloading here, like bootleg videos, etc.). That doesn't mean that they're not cool in their own way or not worth having for a fan. Is it really necessary to kind of slam the author (who's a regular participant) on a public forum? I don't think so.

Hell, if someone takes the financial risks and puts in the hard work, they should profit from it. There are plenty of "unofficial" biographies and such out there. You done good, Shania. Don't let petty, jealous people get you down. 8)

Not to worry Styxman! Didn't take it as harsh; just your opinion. You're entitled. She did good. She accomplished what she set out to; writing a book on Steve. Good for her. Doesn't mean that I have to agree with her or anyone else. Anyone could have done the same thing but didn't.

Marabelle, just apologize, this is Shania's big day, don't spoil it, all the work she's put into it and you post a fucking stupid remark. We all do it at times but not on this thread, come on even you can understand what you did was stupid...retract it and let's get on with the compliments, it's Friday night for fucks sake, drinks start in a minute for me
