Best song with Augeri

Postby Rantlers » Sat Sep 09, 2006 3:04 pm

I sit here, conflicted by all of the negative Steve Augeri posts in the past few months. While I am irked by the idea of Journey doing the lip sinc thing, he really did bring some strong vocal presence to the group (lack of commercial success aside). Having seen Journey six times in this present incarnation since 1998, he has grown on me.

If Steve Augeri is truly done as the lead singer of Journey, I was curious what everyone's favorite Journey song is with him at the helm….mine is "The Place In Your Heart"...

Name ONE thing this fuckhead brought to the band? ONE thing.

You can't. The guy is a piece of shit. Not because he could not sing, but because he was so Hel bent on remaining, and lipping. Right Steve?

We Will Meet Again is one of Journey's most powerful songs. Not just the vocals, the pounding beat as well. Great tune.

I'd say my favourite with Augeri would have to be Higher Place.

But I love the whole Arrival album.

I love OOHW. Higher Place is second. TPIYH is the song that would have been huge in the late 80's-early 90's.

Dude, check yourself. I wouldn't be cruel AT ALL to this POS IF he blew out his voice. The fact he acted out for 100 shows is what pisses me off.

Things Augeri brought to the group
1) keep the Journey name alive
2) Fans who never got to see or hear Journey in concert, got to
3) Arrival
4) Generations
5) Red 13
6) No EGO
7) at least 10 great songs, that would fit along beside Steve Perry's work will not name unless asked to.
18) attention to his cd with Tall Stories and Tyketto, which are great and never would have heard about if he had joined Journey
19) a good to great live performance, not on Perry's level, Perry is the goal ALL singer reach for but never get.
20) And a great live DVD
21) good vocals over all-ERIC

Ok, I will give you that, even though HE almost killed Journey.

2) Fans who never got to see or hear Journey in concert, got to

That's a reach. The differences between Perry and Frauggie are so massive, you need a commuter train to bridge the gap.

3) Arrival

What?

4) Generations

What?

5) Red 13

The music on 13 Ithink is killer, but he sucks on it.

6) No EGO

Hard to have an ego when you aren't very good. Neal has an ego. Frig has one. Jeffie has one. They are all good at what they do.

7) at least 10 great songs, that would fit along beside Steve Perry's work will not name unless asked to.

I defy you to name 10 "great" songs by Frauggie, let alone 10 that stand up to Espee.

18) attention to his cd with Tall Stories and Tyketto, which are great and never would have heard about if he had joined Journey

Are you sure you aren't on the crack or coke?

19) a good to great live performance, not on Perry's level, Perry is the goal ALL singer reach for but never get.

It's easy to be "great" when you lip as good as he can. He was never any good.

20) And a great live DVD

Live? Not hardly. Schon, Frig, Deen and Val were. Augeri sure as Hell wasn't.

21) good vocals over all-ERIC

Yep, you are definitely on drugs.
