Please settle this argument

Postby Sierra » Sun Sep 10, 2006 9:58 am

The people on here know a lot about Journey! I hope you can help me settle this argument with my sister.

We have seen Journey 3 times this summer with the new lead singer and were lucky enough to get great seats! We had so much fun! There is a pedal on the floor that Jeff uses during the concert. My sister said he uses it to help him hit the high notes? I told her she was wrong that he didn't use anything to hit the high notes and that the pedal must be for something else. Does anyone know what it is?

Ask the Man himself. He will probably answer. I sort of know, but he can give a specific answer.

Vox processor
That looks a bit unfair
but guess it helps...

Goodness, they should have plugged SA into one of those

It is a Voice processor, I think by TC Elchilon. Jeff used it on the SS tour too. He uses it for effects like Delays and when you see him tapping, he's "tapping in the tempo" of the effect. Basically, by this, I would assume there are NO CLICK TRACKS being used by the band if Jeff is tapping in his own effect tempos! The guys must be 100% live now :)

Jeff messes with sum pedals on his Queen Convention DVD also, but i doubt it's "pro tools". It might be to add sum echo or reverb to a specific vocal part but whatever, the guy is the real deal like Schon says! :D

This is what he was using on the SS tour and its probably the same unit.
Its a cool piece of gear, I'd love to have the rack version myself!

Ha ha, I knew this was coming!!! It's a friggin' A/B midi board I use to switch monitor mixes in my ears....I've never used the personal (ear) monitors before onstage & with this size stage, it's very necessary to control the front of house sound, but I like to hear different things that you normally do when it's live RIGHT from the speakers/amps/drums/mics which has been hard for me to adapt to. I have several mixes digitally set for me that I can change on the step of a switch, much like a guitar player does with sounds, so I can adapt to certain songs/parts better.....sometimes I wanna hear Deen's voice louder than others, sometimes I need more guitar, less backing vocals, etc., It's pretty cool actually, making me LOVE the in ears now which I've always hated.

There's your answer...you won the bet!

Yea, that's a cool processor I use it to 'tap' my own delays to the different tempos of songs that need delay...not much use for Journey, Kevin Elson prefers doing my delays so i don't use it with Journey.....

JSS- I am so glad I went to the Cincinnati show. I really went to see DL but you are impressive. It kind of felt like old times with this band. I look forward to seeing another concert. Thanks!!!

Kiss got bootlegged in Japan recently from Paul Stanley's ear monitor feed somehow. Is it possible to find that frequency and get the signal that way?

Oh yeah, see you in Atlantic City Jeff. LOL

AR, I don't get the whole KISS thing. Seriously, you are joking about being a KISS fan aren't you? The are the heavy rock Monkees. They aren't even real. Come on dude. Coors Lite and KISS? What in THE Fuck is wrong with people in Baltimore?

I started with Kiss as a kid and it led me to other things. Paul Stanley is still a great singer and doesn't need to go to tape. Bryan Adams even wrote 2 Kiss songs. I stand by them, although they now currently suck ass for a variety of reasons. They are a brand name, not a band currently. More concerned with merchandising than new music.

However, they still have some of the catchiest tunes I have ever heard. I can not go against what made me a fan of hard rock. After hearing Paul Stanley's new solo album, there is hope.

Thanks. I am fairly intelligent, although you couldn't see it from this board....but Elson is no dummy. he worked a miracle with Fraudgeri last year.

When i saw Journey in July it was JSS 3rd show in West Palm beach and by the end of the second song AWYWI Jeff had ripped out his ear moniters. This sounds like a pretty cool device, if you could have one to watch a show you could single out certain parts...sounds neat. Thanks for the info JSS and see ya at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood FLA. In November.

And having toured with Jeff and been involved in the stage set up - I can only verify what Jeff has said here.
