Journey's greatest album is?

It's that time of year, and for the 100th time, another one of these threads. Now! I know there are biased opinions, but it would be interesting to know why you believe your choice of a Journey album is their best piece of work.

And while you state their best work, why not post their worst ever efforts aswell, if there are any.

I'm kinda torn now. I always loved Escape...but I've been listening to Departure a HELL of a lot more lately and I think it moved up. Just like EOTB has beat out Escape as the all time favorite.
I'm sure it'll change next year. :lol:

I can't listen to Arrival, 13, or Gens anymore for noted reasons and that is a shame, because there is some darn good music on there.

To me, even without the 2 singles that went to cinema, Frontiers was the Band at their very height. Too many good songs. Only one shit song, Back Talk. How fitting that a shit site is named the same?

lol...you don't want to get me started on ROR, now let me just say there were a couple of decent songs on it. I loved Girl Can't Help It and I liked the title track, other than that, for me, it was nothing more than a glorified Perry solo album. But as I've said in the past, they have to right to make any music they so desire, so if they wanted a pure pop sell out record then thats what they wanted to make, more power to 'em. But personally I'd rather listen to a recording of myself throwing up then listen to almost anything from that piece of shit album. But maybe thats just me...

Arrival IMO has too many ballads, and not even good ones like Faithfully or WYLAW. It seems sort of forced to me as well, like they are trying way too hard to do another TBF with Augeri. Generations sounds less "studio-polished" to me and I can believe they wrote most of those tracks naturally instead of writing them to sound like Classic Journey.

Interesting. Well my favourite Journey album is Raised On Radio. But I think their finest line of work is Escape and Frontiers, perhaps some of their earlier work aswell, such as Departure and co, but these two (frontiers and escape) are perhaps their best efforts in terms of sales, popularity, unique and just complete!. I feel their early years were their greatest years, probably 1980 - 1983.

Well technically the 'early years' of this band were 1975-1979, and I'll agree with you, their early years were their greatest years.

Where do you stand on Pre-Perry Journey Neal Is God? I like Generations a lot but being a guitar player and ultimately a Neal Schon fan I happen to like the Pre-Perry Journey albums better than Generations. The music (especially Neal Schon’s playing) on the first three albums was absolutely amazing even though it was not commercially acceptable. I’m just wondering why you like Generations more that’s all.
