6) No EGO
Hard to have an ego when you aren't very good. Neal has an ego. Frig has one. Jeffie has one. They are all good at what they do.

Not quite... so a few radio shows an Internet blogs caught wind of the controversy, but it didn't "almost kill" them. Maybe if they were losing big ticket sales, fans BECAUSE OF AUGERI, and the story was a little bigger than a 5-minute convo on Mark and Brian you could say he almost killed them.
They weren't exactly hanging by a thread.6) No EGO

Isn't that one of the reasons Neal and Jon CHOSE Augeri? He didn't have an ego to fight with...

Well that's right. And I think main problem is that poor Steve Augeri got caught up in the middle because Perry was at the helm for so many years, the time this band made a break through. If you take Perry out of the picture, as if were never in Journey - hell! Steve Augeri would be the best!, but because he had to go out on stage day in and day trying his best for the fans, took its toll on him. Perry didn't have to try, he just did it - that was him, his voice was made for those songs.
It's not everyday you get a chance go and perform with Journey and put in Perry's place, where he was so many years. I think its unlucky on Steve Augeri's part, because regardless how he sings the songs, people will always compare them, and so that is the price you pay for fame. Fans are crazy at the end of the day.

It is the one song that could of easily fit on the Infinity, Escape or Frontiers albums.
It is the only 'classic'Journey song of the Augeri era.
They had some decent songs but none were near as good as their first together.

"Higher Place" is just as good, and in fact, trumps this.
