Certainly - but "Hi, I'm Jeff Scott Soto, temporary lead singer with Journey" or even just "the singer with Journey" would both have sounded perfectly reasonable. Not getting at you - indeed, if you did make a Freudian slip with your use of the word "new" then you've recovered from it very well. No wonder you and Deano have clicked - you both do an excellent line in "attack is the best form of defence"!! Either way, I like your style.

New does not imply anything other than most recent which is true.

I suppose current singer would be more to some's liking
maybe more politically correct
heck it's certainly better than replacement for replacement coined in a recent article by Phillip Anderson....

Maybe some should be writing Philip to set the stage straight...

Fun read... Poor guy must've felt stupid when he found out he originally talked to a 'tribute' band. But it was way cool of Jeff to follow thru on someone else's empty promise. I for one am not reading too much into what he said, ie "New Lead Singer". I 'want' to believe he is gonna stay but will wait for at least him to confirm this. God knows the Official Site will not have an "Official Statement" out to the fans on time

What I did find funny, at one point the reporter refers to Jeff as "DeSoto"...

It does look like he is though

I use clothes pins to attach fresh herbs & veggies
He's out of his cage most all of the day & he stays on his playtop where he has all his goodies.

He has fun foraging sort of like being in nature.
I try to make him as happy a bird as I can

In all fairness to management they can't be blamed for a lack of offical word.
beyond that Steve Augeri was replaced due to to a health condition.

There is no statement that mgmt can make other than to wait silently as they have been
If SA has a serious chronic throat infection as has been indicated
than only God, time and his Dr's can try to answer that question.

If it was taped as some have maintained then
Admitting taped concerts is in no ones best interest
It's over one way or the other
so let's let SA get out with some dignity
