Cleveland Show Review: September 12th, 2006.

Postby RossValoryRocks » Thu Sep 14, 2006 1:45 am

My review is short and sweet: WOW!
Ok...a little longer...the crowd was so into it that during Open Arms I couldn't hear Deen because the crowd was singing SO LOUD that it drowned him out. AMAZING!

Neal ACTUALLY RAN ACROSS THE STAGE while he was playing, using a wireless rig! I haven't seen that move in 20 years!!

Simply put Journey was ON FIRE!

I cannot wait to see them tonight in MY HOME TOWN, Home of the WORLD CHAMPION PITTSBURGH STEELERS!

The energy was amazing and Jeff sounded BETTER than he did in Indy and Cincy back in July and he was pretty terrific those nights as well.

When they did Edge of the Blade, if you closed your eyes it sounded like you were listening to Escape it was that tight.

And I think I prefer Jeff's voice to Perry's...it has a quality that Perry doesn't...just my opinion mind you.

You did? I graduated from Canon-Mac in '87. PM me and let me know who you REALLY are...I bet we know each other. In fact let me ask you this...did you get your ticket stolen at the Arena prior to the ROR tour in '86?

Ah Canonsburg - home of Sarris and the best ice cream parlor around! ..... (sigh)... Unfortunately all we have in West Mifflin is Kennywood.

Wish I was going to the show tonight! I'll be looking for your review tomorrow. Hope the weather holds out for you.

Kennywood!!!! I haven't been there since my senior year picnic! My 6 yo daughter, however, has spent a few summer weeks at my parents house over the past 3-4 years (they live near Youngstown now) and she absolutley LOVES Kennywood!

Kennywood's cool, but it was the most fun when my kids were young like your daughter. We didn't go this summer at all. They're buying up surrounding land and are planning to expand the park. It will be interesting to see what changes they make. Supposedly they bought the old Kmart complex.

Sorry, but to me that's like saying you prefer an Elvis impersonator's voice over Elvis.

Glad you liked the show. From what I hear, JSS has added a lot of energy to the mix.

Don't let the personal hate cloud your educated eyes.

NO ONE touches Perry and you know it. JSS is the most bitchin dude around (and my boy Schonny too,..little fucker in a purple shirt), but we are all about honesty here...Perry was the best ever..However, I put JSS right there....a C hair behind.

Yeah, I was at the show too.

JSS did sound way better than he did in his first few shows with the band!

It was great to see them do EOTB and DOA.

Not to diss JSS in any way, I think he's great. There's not going to be too many people who will ever get to walk in the shoes of The Voice of Journey, so JSS is truly a talented and fortunate man. But let's face it, Journey never had a hit without The Voice, and it probably never will. Perry was like Elvis. For someone else to sing with Elvis' former band members would be a big treat for his fans - but it wouldn't be Elvis. Is this situation much different?

I must say, however, that Cain and Schon did get a hit with John Waite in Bad English, but Waite had already proved himself to be a hitmaker. In a way I see Schon like I do Eddie Van Halen (minus the drunkenness). EVH was always a hitmaker with DLR and Hagar, but not with Cherone. So I think the chemistry must be there between vocalist and musicians unless you're going to do a Satriani-style album. Unfortunately, the chemistry that Journey had with Steve Perry cannot be duplicated - only copied.

Answer this question for me: Could the Rolling Stones be a "better band" if Mick Jagger was replaced? Or what about Aerosmith losing Tyler? Could someone else come into the band and be "better" than those guys and sell more records than they did?
