He should go tour with Heart again...prick!

What I don't understand is this: You have 3 guys from 3 very famous bands...none of whom wrote much material for any of their bands. (I know Gilby has a couple of solo albums, but the less said about Tommy's non-Crue career the better)...so who's actually writing the stuff for this silly album? And what happens in a couple months when Tommy goes back to the Crue? This whole thing is silly...I thought the INXS thing was a real disgrace to Hutchence's legacy, but at least they made a decent album out of it and will hopefully be a long-term thing.

Well, next year they might as well call up Ed, Al and Wolfie and find those jokers a singer... God knows Eddie couldn't sing "Happy Birthday" w/o rousing howls and whines from every dog in a 10 mile radius :)

As for Clarke, call me silly but, what has he ever done to have such 'credibility' anyway???

He was nothing but a hired Gun(and Roses) very little writing ability,Tommy Lee o.k drummer writer=0,Dave Navaro again not much of a writer. Jason Newsted good bass player and writer,he seems out of place here among the word dude said every sentance. This is Tommy Lee Rock star Supernova, yet the guy has trouble stringing a sentance together....dude :?

Notice they asked them all to wite their own song. I think they were hoping to get someone who could write songs for them. The guy they chose is spastic! and weird. Don't like him at all. :x Toby was abetter choice and I loved his original song. They made a big mistake. If Tommy Lee is going back to Crue, what will have to Supernova?

The two people I liked the least ended up being in the final 2. Toby was the perfect choice and they blew it.

From the LA Times:

It had come down to a battle among three contestants in addition to Rossi — passionate Icelandic crooner Magni Asgeirsson; charismatic Aussie heartthrob Toby Rand; and the last woman standing, smoky-voiced powerhouse Dilana Robichaux. Each seemed to have a shot at what host Brooke Burke called "the gig of a lifetime."

The boldest choice would have been Robichaux, whose performances were some of the most intense and haunting ever seen on prime-time television. Ultimately, however, she came off as too emotional midway through the series when she was shown fighting with other contestants and subsequently having a meltdown. Hard to imagine Lee & Co. putting up with that for months on a tour bus.

No, they decided before the series even began that they wanted Lukas. Dilana blew everyone away week in and week out.

I heard that before about Lukas being picked before the show even aired. How do we know that? Someone have inside info????. Dilana was great especially when she sang and danced on one leg after injuring her calf. not many people could or would do that.

Gilby

Postby journeywoman » Fri Sep 15, 2006 5:37 am

First of all I do believe it is a way to introduce new artists. This season was a bit theatrical with the Russian broad, and the teen Queen. There were some great new ones to watch as Ryan Starr, Magni and Toby. Ryan has an album coming out called The Dark Horse as he was called on the show. He is multi talented and can make a song his.Magni would be any rock bands treasure. The show this seemed to have terrible song choices. As for Dilana, she is a control bitch and would have stopped at nothing to have gotten that gig. You have to remember there were 3 guys there with giant egos, do you think they are gonna let a woman steal their limelight? This writer says no.She destroyed herself when she ratted on her room mates and then threw the glass which came back and cut Magni's head. What would have happened on the road when this bitch did't get her way?I do believe the show has lost credibility, but it made for a summer passing show to watch. Maybe next year they will get a better band that will be long term not just for a one year gig.The best music out of this program seemed to have come a little late, the last two weeks were great. But,little to late.

Butch Walker is "the write/producer". He is great! A part of Marvelous 3, he also has solo works and has helped the likes of Avril Lavigne and others. The guy can write a pop/rock song.

I actually enjoyed the INXS one and they did do a good record. I think that one worked the way it should have. But Andrew has hinted that all is not well in the INXS camp. I wonder if he has anymore info about what is going down....I would hate to see JD out after only one CD and tour. The reviews I heard were all pretty good!

I'm sure it wouldn't have taken Tommy Lee more than 15 miles on the tour bus before he had her in the rack.....if he hasn't already!

LMAOROTF!!! I don't know, she looks pretty fiesty... maybe you should've said "before she had all of them in the rack" :)

I never watched the show but, I will say this, this chick has the looks (smokin hot) and apparently the pipes; I'm sure we'll being hearing from her soon!

The album was pretty good. But I saw them in May of this year and it was incredibly disappointing. Barely 80 minutes, which is absurd given how many albums they have (it was a theater show, not a festival or some other gig where they'd be on a time limit). JD was fine, the show was just underwhelming due to it's very short length, and the fact that it didn't flow at all. A concert like that has to have a very logical order, you can't just play 15 songs at random, there has to be builds and climaxes and quieter spots and whatnot, and that didnt' happen. Moreover, lots of songs they didn't play ("The Stairs," "Bitter Tears," "Elegantly Wasted," "Shine Like It Does," only one song of off 'Welcome To Wherever You Are')...just a very disappointing show that could've been easily fixed by adding another 25-30 minutes and a more logical setlist.

I'd be curious too though, as to what is apparently wrong in the INXS camp. Although I know someone who is friends with Marty Casey, who told me that JD basically has a one-year contract with INXS...it's a similar agreement to what Bruce Kulick in KISS had, where he was basically an employee rather than an equal band member. Apparently JD got a 1-year contract, and Casey got his own band a record deal, so I think he might have won out in the end (although I'm not terribly impressed with the Lovehammers record...great production, weak songwriting, but that's another topic entirely)

I think you only have to look at this picture and you can see why they picked him. He just looks like one of them and they probably thought he was weird enough to fit into their world. For these guys it wasn't a case of finding the best singer (which he clearly wasn't), but picking someone they'd feel comfortable with for months on end on the road. And they all got that sparkle in their eyes when they looked at him. Specially Tommy who I think will have had the most say. Toby, even though he tried to make himself more punk, was really too straight for them, like a college guy, and Dilana too tempestuous. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series.
