For god's sake. The gig was near where he stays, he worked with these guys for 8 years... why shouldn't he be there?

So it's bad form to go and see your friends or even just go out of curiousity (i.e. to see what your replacement is like on stage). As someone else said, they're not kids.

Sheesh... everything starts a big debate on here.

all he was doing was seeing how the show went on and how his competition was doing simple as that . and wondering what the show looks like from the fans side of it....cause I'm sure thats the only way he'll be seeing them again. From the cheap seats

As if someone in the band is going to just come on here and give us all the scoop just because we asked. There are reasons management and the band have been tight-lipped. Some people here may not agree with those reasons, but we'll know when the band is ready for us to know, and not before. And I know if I had the inside scoop, I certainly wouldn't post it on a public forum appease a handful of Journey fans, especially not if I liked keeping my job or my reputation in the entertainment industry. They've already had at least one lead singer who has questionable decision-making abilities; I believe the new guy is a little smarter than that.

So let the speculation continue....

"Why not?" you ask?

Well according to the self-appointed "main character of this board" we should probably start with the fact that Schon/Cain HATE (in Schon's case since at LEAST 2004) the guy, have branded him a pariah in the band and unceremoniously fired him when they discovered that unbeknowenst to them at the time he lipsynched an entire tour after the first week of the Generations shows.
That should be reason enough for Augeri not to be in the amphitheater at all, let alone the soundbooth and then exchaging greetings with JSS who posted they were all happy to see him.

Unless, of course, the above is somewhat wide of the mark on the truth-o-meter.

Yes, no way SA would be there if he and the band weren't on good terms on a personal level, which I had doubted. This is an obvious gesture of support for JSS and Journey, whether temporary or permanent.

No one should be surprised about Steve's presence at the show.
No matter what hapenned behind the stage,Augeri is still the official lead singer of Journey.
His appearance and his interaction with the band does nothing but confirm that nothing is confirmed yet...y'know?

Like NIG said...classy move on SA's part.

And JSS said that "I had a great chat with him & he was very optimistic with me holding the fort out here."

If this were the business world, I think Jeff would be one of those "temp-to-perms."

And this will remain a great band due in no small part to that.

Obviously Journey is alot less obsessed with tapegate than an internet "fan" who needs to find something more important to dedicate his energy to...

Here's a possible scenario...

The Band and Management are very aware of all the specualting and in-fighting on the web right now concerning whether or not SA is still in the band. No one wants to say anything, one way or the other, right now since the tour is going so well. So all involved throw us a curveball: Management and/or the Band ask SA to make an appearance at this show so that all the SA fans can be happy and still have some hope, thus making sure they still stay interested in the band. Also, by SA being there, Management and the Band hope to squash all the rumors of "who's in/who's out" for alittle while longer until AFTER the tour is completely over and ALL parties involved can decide what exactly will be the future of Journey.

So that's my take on why SA showed up at the show...
I'm probably way off target and it was probably simpler, SA coming down to give the band (of which he is still 'officially' a member) his support and nothing else.

One thing I haven't read yet because I am playing catch-up from Friday and there is just too much banter to wade thru: Did anyone actually TALK to SA? How did his voice sound, talking-wise; raspy, hushed, normal? And did he make any comments on his future plans?

Apparently some people did speak to SA, but they didn't mention how his voice sounded during their conversation with him.

Yea.
Or, and I know this is a REAL stretch here but I'm going out limbing, it could be what it appeared to be. SA going to visit and lend support to the band.

Yep, you are probably right; I said the same thing AFTER my above-mentioned conspiracy :) But that is too boring, there's got to be something alittle more shady going here :)

It totally amazes me that this thread has gone for 3 pages. Bottom line is no one that has posted on here so far knows the absolute truth. You all are making asses of yourselves with all of your prophesies. No one knows if SA was invited, showed up was welcome or not etc..... so why keep arguing about it?

I'm guessing that very few people (a couple of hundred or so, maybe) even know (or care) about the so-called "TapeGate". Those here, at Journey's site, and a few others at random. In the grand scheme, not very many people at all.

I think SA showing up at the show was nothing more than a guy showing up to see some friends. Geezus. JSS basically said as much, himself. And he doesn't strike me as a liar.
