Let's all vote on this idiot's post from CT..You tell me what the Hell this person is on?

MCC620..well said about how SA delivers the songs. If U listen 2 Journey's live recordings w/Perry, most of the song keys were dropped lower and the songs were played really fast. Augeri era Journey sings and plays the songs in the key and at the speed the songs were originally recorded (Not exactly the ideal voice register 4 a singer in his late 30s and mid-40s). None the less, SA belted them out night after night 4 the last 8yrs. His performances were both humble and energetic. He seemed 2 enjoy every minute. My gripe is how the official, or lack thereof, is bein' handled. 4 these guys, is it about the fans and the love of platin'? Or is it about the $?

Check out the name of the poster. That tells you all you need to know. He obviously knows nothing about Perry. The keys were never lowered for him during the concerts.

You know, I hate Augeris' ass, but his fans I despise.

It's posts like this....Steve Who? referring to Perry...Or "Perry can't touch Mr Awesome." That is simply not correct. No one can tell me with a sytraight face Augeri is/was/ better than Steve Perry.

Is this the same person who said only Augeri sang Journey songs with "emotion and passion" etc etc? I just skimmed through, so I don't recall the exact wording, but it made me laugh. Perry had no emotion? Come ON.

There is actually ONE documented account of Journey, so to speak, lowering the key of songs for Perry and there are boots out there that prove it: When Steve, Neal and Jon played at the Bill Graham tribute. In fact, HH has said in interviews that Jon and Neal weren't aware that Perry needed the keys lowered until the day of the show and worked out everything right before they went on. Now, since this was a 3-4 song "one-off", I don't think it counts for much. But this is one true instance that the guys lowered key s for Perry.
Regardless, NO ONE will ever be able to match 80-84 era Perry, LIVE or Studio... It just ain't happening :)

Thanks for clarifying that...........

now let's be clear about what I said in my post that Augerian replied to...................

"I have been a Journey fan since I was 13 years old, but never, for me, did the music have as much passion, heart and soul as when Steve Augeri was singing the songs." You see people everyone's view of music is personal and objective.

I have been a fan of the music. Perry's vocals were amazing back in the day, but that is not what drew me in. It was Neal and his guitar.

Now Dean....do what Andrew said and stop bringing BT over here. I realize it must kill you to not be able to post over there, but get over it already.

If I knew how to put a smiley in I would put up a knight in armor cause I know you're going to just fire away.

Well it could be because I grew up with musicians in my family, not singers. So for me, the guitar was always fascinating. Like I said, music touches everyone differently. that's why there are so many different kinds of it out there. :)

I respectfully don't get your reasoning at all. They sound so much better now after Augeri's departure. Neal sounds fresh, the drum sounds heavier, the bass sounds alive. hell, look at their faces! Even the Frig is smiling. That in itself is a miracle.

:) AMEN no one can match him even today. no one can ever sound like that beautiful, golden, unique, talented voice.
no one can match his stage persona either. There is the one and only origianl Steve Perry. Anyone who tries is a
jackass and just makes a fool of themselves. JSS sounds like he has his own technique and should do well with
the band. My hopes and dreams of ever seeing Steve Perry live before I die are probably very small. :)

RND, what baffles me is why you hate everyone that enjoys listening to Augeri? What difference does it make to you whom anyone prefers to listen too? What do you care who his fans are or not?

It's beyond ridiculous and not even remotely funny. The same stuff, over and over.

Give it a rest for goodness sake.

Perry dropped the keys when he "Ran alone". Journey only dropped the keys for Perry at the Bill Graham Tribute. The songs were done in the original key's for SA, never dropped (that I'm aware of- and I've listened to a lot of boots).
Augeri DID belt them out night after night for years. SOME shows great. SOME shows not as great, but never completely horrible until this past tour when he left.

Not only did I 'spin' Arrival, I listened to Red13 also. Sounded pretty good to me.

Might as well be disgusted with Journey as a whole - they would all be involved in your 'tapegate' allegations. Pity the poor fool who thinks likewise.

Peace to all - no doubt this will continue for another 6 months. Such a shame.

And I think the majority here have. There are however those firmly entrenched on either "side" who feel the need to reiterate their point of view ad nauseum. It gets tedious to say the least.

I'd not count Liz as a person who has not accepted or moved on. I believe she has. What she, and several others are tired of is the need by some to continually toot their own horn in such a manner that belittles anyone who doesn't kowtow to that.

At least that's my interpretation of it. If I'm mistaken, then accept my apologies up front.
