Wow, thanks for the nice words, Mac.

Very clever mis-use of the quote option Deano, but thankfully I'm the only one that can actually edit original posts :)

Of course it's only the beginning. But I think we've established Steve won't be back... for me the fact that he was at the gig and in good form shows he is moving on with his life.

I also agree with the person who said Journey are not as obsessed with the tape issue as we are here. I think as far as they're concerned they're moving on with a new singer without having to address the debate, and considering the way JSS has been received by some people, I think it would be very hard for them to go back to having SA as their lead singer. It's just been too long and too big a change IMO.

I agree with your post as well. I'm glad that someone understood the context of my statement, as a couple others didn't get it... or wanted to twist it around to apply to Augeri's exit and the band's avoiding dealing with the tapegate issue.

It could be that for the guys there is life beyond the tape issue and for Steve there is life beyond Journey.

Either way, they're obviously not as bothered about it as some people are.

So sorry, Red, I didn't mean to misquote you at all. I just remembered reading that, not remembering at all what context it was meant for.
I was only trying to say that I can relate to the situation of knowing something is real in your head, but feeling in your heart that you just can't accept it. Hope I am explaining myself clearly here, I don't want to have a misunderstanding on this.
I guess I better not be quoting anyone here unless I know what they are talking about, huh?

Sorry for the misleading post , but it was still a great quote, so thanks!!

I'm the same. What I've been told by folk who have sources would make me think it was true, but my front row experience still has my gut telling me otherwise.

I really don't think we'll ever know the real story of what happened there. But it doesn't appear that the guys in the band see SA as a predator or anything so maybe it really has been blown out of proportion.

I think he's gone, Mandi, and in a more relaxed space for being so. Therefore I'm happy for him but still miss him fronting the band.

If we did not have a nuclear super secret weapon like JSS to turn to I'd be pissed.

You are both most likely correct (there is my head, telling me you are) BUT (look out, cuz here comes my heart talking at ya) couldn't there be the tiniest possiblilty that after the tour is over, JSS will return to Talisman, and next year SA may return to front Journey, with his voice all healed, and the stench of Tapegate behind them?

I know the debate has gone on forever, and I truly don't want to stir it all up again. I know the evidence is damning against him. I guess I should just force myself to move on, but I have a huge soft spot in my heart for him (and his family) that I cannot explain, and I wonder and worry about what he will do if his time with Journey is over.

Journey was his dream come true, so I wonder, is it better to have lived your dream and lose it, or is it better to have never lived out your dreams at all?

I reckon it's much better to have lived your dream and lose it. Also - who knows? Maybe he was ready to move on himself?

That's a classic 'dillemma',so to speak...
IMO,it's better to live your dream and lose it,then never live it and have regrets.

I am sure that's why SA accepted the challenge of becoming Journey's lead singer - a once in a lifetime situation.
Even if he is not up there anymore,I don't think he has regrets...He really lived his dream.

Maybe JSS is in the same situation.Living his dream...

One of those demands may have been visible support for Journey replacing him with JSS...

This makes sense to me.
Personally, I hope Augeri tells Journey to piss off and he moves on with Tall Stories or goes solo on his own terms. His whole career with them has been one comparison to Perry after another. He doesn't sing the songs as well as Perry, but Eddie Van Halen couldn't play the songs as well as Neal, you know? Doesn't mean he sucks. It means that it's different than the original. I like the guy. I like his voice. Singing in Journey is a major tough gig. Probably the toughest gig out there for a rock singer. Augeri did it well for a long time. I'm not that supportive of JSS in Journey. I have yet to hear ANYTHING recorded with Journey that makes me think it's a good move. (I've heard 3 boots, that's it though).

When I hear JSS sing Faithfully, Open Arms, and Still They Ride in a Journey show- and sing them well, then I may be convinced.
All this stuff about "Augeri can't sing anymore" is reactionary BS in my opinion, some of it wishful thinking by some. Jesus, some people here make it sound like he killed Santa Claus or something. It's not that big of a deal and there's no reason the guy should eternally be slammed and damned to Hell.

I know all signs point to SA being given the boot, but for some reason I can't shake off the idea that maybe he left of his own accord in the end. Is it possible he's decided to go cos he knows his voice is stuffed or cos of the tape issue?

No-one can really say. I just wonder if it was him who decided to quit in the end.

Didn't he ring his old bandmates in Tall Stories for the first time in years last December?

In November when I asked him, it seemed that they were already working together on getting some of this aditional material out there. And I think he mentioned in an interview that he was always in contact with them. Andrew?

All the fuss about spotting Augeri in Holmdel, yet no one mentioned he got his hair cut! Can this be true????

Hopefully JSS will come in and set the record straight.

Hopefully, Jeff is too busy warming up, and taking care of his voice, performing and reading genuine feedback to comment on something as trivial as Augeri's hair.

It's been tossed around before. I think by Augeri himself, in an proposed attempt to move away from any stereotyped 80's look.

You can't be a male Journey fan without having someone question your sexuality at least once.
Personally, I am secure enough im my rock-ribbed heterosexuality to tackle the most gay of all subjects.
Show tunes, ass shaving - it's all fair game.
Bring it on.

Are you in hysterics because I am admitted periodic ass shaver, or because I hold myself to be the straightest guy in this place?
Err, well, ok....maybe that's a bit much.
At least I am straighter than that wrinkled old faggot, Monker! :P
