Any ideas which one it could be? Tough question I know...but are there any obvious stand-out tracks you can think of?
I think it was in '85...will check...

Hmmm..."Drastic Measures" was released in '83, followed by "The Best of Kansas" in '84, and then "Power" in '86. "All I Wanted" was a top 20 hit in '86. Could that be the one?

Matthew wrote:Yes...it must have been "Power" in '86. The title doesn't ring a bell...but it was twenty years ago. Which is your favourite track on it, Dave?

The opening track, "Silhouettes in Disguise" is my favorite. Steve Morse totally smokes on that one. "Three Pretenders" is also very good. Both sound like pretty much standard AOR rock, unlike most of the rest of the Kansas catalogue.

"Silhouettes in Disguise" opens the album. I don't have the cassette version anymore but I'm pretty sure that the instrumental "Musicatto" opens side 2. The only bad track on the album, in my opinion, is "Secret Service".
Matthew wrote:Okay - it definitely wasn't "Musicatto"...the song I'm thinking of had vocals....so I'll try to track down "Silhouettes..." Thanks Dave.
I wish this site had a music store....

Yeah, they're kinda the Yardbirds of the 80s, having had both Vai and Malmsteen at one point.

Matthew wrote:It's funny - Graham Bonnet didn't even start out as a heavy rock singer...yet almost by accident he joined Rainbow...and so ended up working with Blackmore, Schenker, Malmsteen and Vai....

It looks like you can. The shipping is more than the price of the CD, though.![]()
It's a shame they didn't get more promotion. That "Power" album could've done a lot better, in my opinion.
Matthew wrote:Hey Dave - I've just been to iTunes US (where you can listen but cannot buy) - and the mystery is solved!
I actually liked (and from the 30 second clips still like) three songs from that album...."Musicatto"..."Taking In The View"...and "Three Pretenders"....so it was the opening of Side B after all.

You'd probably like the title track as well. The intro to that song isn't that inspiring but the chorus really kicks it up.
The end of "Musicatto" fades directly into "Taking in the View". It's a great little acoustic track. I don't even know if they've ever performed that one live.

Is that Christian Rock, Dave? If so, it's not a genre I know much about...but I LOVE this track by Creed...even though the music is perhaps overly influenced by Pearl Jam.
