Well, I was suprised to see some songs in the members list's here. Here is my list, and alot of these songs are not actually all that bad compared to other bands, just not my thing when it comes to Journey, that's all. But at the end of the day, I can still tolerate every single Song Journey has done, I might not dig it 100% - but it's still a Journey song.

Everything else is great...especially "Escape", "Frontiers" and "Raised On Radio" - which are all totally outstanding, classic albums throughout.

Okay - I quite like "Signs of Life" and "I Got A Reason" . But I do think its a mediocre, 'empty' record. Compared to most AOR bands it isn't "shit" - it has Neal on it after all - but compared to Journey at their best it is.

Someone here once said that Red 13 sounds like a demo from an unsigned Scandinavian band - which pretty much sums up what I think of that record.

Sorry - but I really have tried to like the Augeri era of the band. I've given up now....although I LOVE "A Better Life" off Generations.

I don't have great memory for track names, but after listening for 15 years to Journey records, here are my opinions, which are a sum of memories linked with songs.
Journey: I love the instrumentals but not that much the sung tracks. Not a huge fan of their first period. This is a record I should re-listen today
Look into the Future: My less favorite Journey record. That sums it up
Next: Love it. Dunbar really plays so mean on this record, love a lot of songs here
Infinity: While the approach was different with Perry on vocals, Love some tracks but I preferred Next.
Evolution/Departure/Captured/Escape/Frontiers: UNTOUCHABLE
Raised on Radio: half of the record went for that pop-soul-funk 80s sound. it sounds very dated today, with drum machines/loops/synths. Don't like it so much and it contains some fantastic tracks and other mediocre fillers.
Trial By Fire: better record than ROR, but times have changed. Too many ballads here and some fantastic tracks (Easy to Fall, a true gem by late Perry)
Arrival: loved it , I still wonder if it was the sign of time (I was getting engaged with my future wife) or the real value of the record. I recall Higher Place being my fav track on it
Red 13: didn't do for me.
Generations: loved Out of Harms Way and Beyond the Clouds. But too many highs and lows on this record.
So, the perfect combination of the worst Journey songs for me would be a pick from their first 4 records + the last 4.

MOL isn't, but is still decent

Everyone who doesn't like One More is nuts. That song is the balls. Seriously. The guitaring, quasi-manowarish lyrics, and the RHYTHM SECTION all combine to make a great song. Ross put on the best performance of his career on this song, I believe. That bassline is ridiculous!

I like a few of the songs from the last two preperry era albums. I think that "In the Morning Day" with Ross and Gregg on vocals is nice. Some very nice lyrics from the material before Perry. I would have loved to hear what Perry did with "For You."

"Only The Young"..............I don't believe that I can even remember the lyrics.
"Ask The Lonely"...............I love the song, but the voice over ruins it for me every time.

Of Perry's solo work, I skip "Donna Please."

I'm like all the concert goers that only recognize the Journey/Perry songs. His voice in combination with band is what drew me to Journey and anything else falls far short without him. I respect anyone moving on with new frontmen down the line. I'm totally comfortable with my conception of the band.

I totally love all of ROR and TBF.

I'm not a vocalist so I can't pick apart and point out any of Perry's possible flaws. Not knowing is a blessing, I guess.

I loved One More , but I keep thinking the missing element on that song was Perry vocals. He strains a lot on the chorus of the song, towards the end, and it ruins the moment they built IMO.
Anyway, Smitty (double-bass drums) and Ross rock hard on that song. Very tight rhythm section, I agree!

Oh, absolutely correct. I go to the concerts because the other members of the band, excluding the singer, are as awesome as ever. But the combo of Cain, Schon and Perry's writing ability are sorely missed. They were magic together.
Haven't heard the new singer yet, but nothing can compare to Perry, EVER.

I'm always banging on about how much I hate Perry impersonations on Journey records ...but somehow I've managed to convince myself that this isn't what Deen is doing...that he just has soul...and so on.

But...I suspect you're right...and I'm full of shit.

I’m glad to see that for the most part the Pre-Perry stuff is being kept out of this list. It is in a whole other league than what followed it. Whether it is a bigger or smaller league is up to the listener. I am a guitar player and what attracted me to Journey was Neal Schon not Steve Perry. The Pre-Perry stuff is amazing and I love it just as much as I do Escape. The singing is certainly nowhere near as good obviously but I don’t listen to it for the singing rather the instruments. When I am in the mood for great underrated 70’s classic rock I’ll put on The Pre-Perry stuff. When I am in the mood for radio friendly timeless classics I’ll put on the Perry Era stuff. I’m just glad people are not putting Pre-Perry songs on the shit list because to me it is a completely different Journey.
