Those 2 sound checks that were put up last week were as clear as day with no audience noise he sounds very strained on IBAWU and the other song , i dont even want to go there----think about it, it was practice right before a concert, they say they were screwing around okay--well this drummer was just screwing around as well and he sounds closer to hitting that song then Jeff, i just think theres plenty of others that can keep the classics closer to the way they were meant to be

is this what you were looking for Image

This guy sounds better than anything I've heard off of the boots for the current tour and I've heard them all. Great job.
One thing to keep in mind... this is ONE song. If he had to do it for an entire night (not to mention an entire tour), things might not be as
rosy, but I'm with Yulog here.

Great job!

That was tremendous! Keep singing. Where were you in '98 ? I know JSS rules a stage like Perry, but don't worry about the statue part. SA was sort of a statue type, just couldn't sing as well as you. Never quit. It took Perry 10yrs to get noticed.

Superb rendition of a great song! I've always thought that Journey music is EXTREMELY challenging, vocally, and I thought you nailed the song.

Not a bad job at all. The singing lacks a little feeling but it's a great start.

I think that you have a wonderful voice and wish you the best. Perry probably started out just like you. You do have the voice, imo.

I hope it was all enjoyment when singing this tune, if you're not having fun , QUIT NOW !!!... I think you did a fine job... learn to sustain your notes a little longer and build those lungs, 6 months from now you could be a force to reckon with.

Wow, nice! I didn't know that Journey had licensed any of their material for Karaoke! I'd love to get my hands on some of those CDs. Care to share where to get them?

I believe Radio Starz & Sound Choice have a good selection of Journey... I was told that some Steve Perry solo material is out as well.

No way I could do that for a whole show. JUst not conditioned for it and I smoke ! Stupid I know. I am a drummer 1st and singer 2nd and I guess I am just fortunate to be able to mimic things that I hear. I may try another tomarrow but after the gig tonight and I cant imagine trying to sing. Thx for the kind comments. I was very uptight about doing this because I know you guys would not hesitate to point out flaws. Man if I could kick cigs or If I never had smoked I wonder what my range would be. Ive only been singing in my higher range for about a year. I didnt know I could do it and one day in the car it just happened and I remembered what it felt like to use my voice that way. It does get tired fast singing that high. Wish I would have pursed vocals a long time ago but I just had hit things with sticks. CHeck out my originals too under "The BRink". I wrote. performed and recorded them. They sound nothing like JOurney and I not sing any where near that high. Its more modern radio rock stuff because I couldnt write a Journey style song if my like depended on it !

LD, that was great. What is is with these drummers who have great voices? Makes us guitarists jealous.

yulog. JSS is fantastic. You have to see AND hear him to fully understand. I was the same way you are because I hadn't heard a boot that sounded good enough to impress me. I can tell you after watching about 7 songs in soundcheck and being upfront at the show, he has hit his stride and has made the band white hot again. SEE A SHOW.

Although I would drop everything to see Perry perform again...........after seeing the IBAWY soundcheck, and between Deen and JSS, I am SOLD (don't care if anybody else is  ). I love the ROR stuff and he nails it.......and he definately has the charisma to front the band! So I'm hoping they play dates in Canada or tour again next time with JSS......cuz I'm there! :) Already been to California twice in the last year, just can't $$$ justify three.......damn! :(

yulog, you NEED to go see a show with JSS with Journey. Boots are ok, but you need to see the real deal here. JSS pulls off the Journey catalog. I have seen and talked to some friends who are die-hard fans of Perry or Augeri, and they have changed their minds once they have heard JSS. Hell, even one of my friends hasn't seen JSS yet, but they are sold on him. I was sold on him right from the start, because not only his powerhouse voice, but he ISN'T up there trying to imitate Perry or Augeri. He is his own person, who puts his own spin on the songs, and THAT is what Journey needs now.

Now I urge you once again...... GO SEE A SHOW !
