CD track choices

Y'know, after hearing those added tracks on the upcoming SP re-releases (thanx a bunch, Andrew), it begs the question:

WHY were they left off in the FIRST place?

DV? Anyone?

ive wondered that about lots of albums AND movies for that much...the producer only wants so many songs.... the label doesnt like the producers picks,, or the theory that you only put 9-10 songs on an album so folks wont get lost listening to an hour cd.... yet it seems the fans never get a chance to voice what they would like to hear... sometimes the best songs are left off!! and sometimes the best scenes of a movie are cut , yet end up on the dvd..and you think..that scene would have worked perfectly in the original release!! then there is the entire theory of the B-side..... makes u spend more money,,, it seems very complicated.....but all about $$- i could be wrong 8)

Well, I can say that the Alien Project songs possibly weren't a fit onto the albums that Perry was doing at the time, or someone upstairs said "no" to them. Or here is another possibility......... since Alien Project was so close to signing a record deal, then their bass player is killed in an accident, maybe Perry had some issues about releasing them back then.

As for the others, who knows.

Alien Project was a band that Steve Perry was in before he was asked to come join Journey. I believe that they were just about to be signed for a record deal, then the bass player was killed. Steve then went back home to the Hanford-Lemoore area, and was repairing turkey coops when Herbie gave him a call to come join Journey.

If you click on the Sony site and go to the Street Talk album, you can hear a few of the demos from that band.
