Unfuckingbelievable

Postby Mandi » Tue Sep 26, 2006 8:12 am

Thank you for sharing your great review!!

I have never read a review written with such clarity and excitement. It really does make me want to see this incarnation of Journey, and you know how I feel about that!

I know you probably could care less what I think, and there is no reason why you should, but I will say that I have a new respect for you and your opinion, because surely someone who can write the way you do, and express yourself in a way that is unique only to you, deserves respect.

Again, thank you Deano, for your honesty. I have a feeling that it has always been your priority, and if I have misunderstood you and your motives in the past, I am sorry. It is a mistake I won't make again!

Ed, why bother with him? Red13 let the train leave the station before and he is pissed he did so. let this guy stand on the platform. Everyone who comes along for the ride will fully dig the journey; those who don't can, well, go fuck themselves.

Also, send me STL via email will ya? It is STILL in my head.

I'm getting to that point too and here's why. Journey has a catalog very few bands can even hold a candle to. With that said, it seems more and more obvious JSS IS the new lead singer. However, Journey's music has stood the test of time QUITE well, and for good reasons. Now, mid-tour, they go to an emergency plan and pick up JSS. A great acquisition? Certainly. The best lineup ever? It would be foolish to say...to put it nicely. The late 70's to ROR Journey EARNED their reputation as a phenomenal band. Now, because we've had 8 years of mediocre (at best) music, a completely UNPROVEN lineup is "the best ever." Fuck, they don't even have ONE song together yet and they're the best? Maybe, in time, they will be, but I have about 75,000,000 reasons that tell me they won't. I DO see radio play out of this lineup, though. Soto has a contemporary look, swagger and aura about him. If he is the longterm replacement, it's a good one, but let's let time determine this incarnation's place in Journey history, rather than half a tour.

Dean-O....JSS wore an old school Sabres jersey for the encore at Darien Lake. I'm not talking about their retro pieces of shit with Trump's hair piece on them...I'm talking about the old Blue and Golds...

St. John, that's cool you think that. I am telling you though, this isn't pom pom Journey anylonger. We are going to rock now.

Great review man. I guess some of the only questions now are:

- Does JSS want to be the current frontman for good?

- Is Augeri prepared to step down from the helm? (provided his voice gets better) I think it will and probably is getting there

I'm with you on that one. I've said FOREVER that Lights and Open Arms are ideal for beer refills. For some reason I like Faithfully a lot though. Perry and Neal at the end of that song flat out fuckin' rock. I remember hearing All The Way in concert and almost puking. Soto needs to pull out MOL and maybe even One More. Like you said, it's time to ROCK.

Well, it's hard because nobody is saying anything. I know, if you look at the current siuation - looking at past and previous rock bands, and Journey (an official word won't be happening) if at all, it would be like as if it never happend, but they continue to tour and write new music with JSS. I wonder how Steve Augeri feels at this moment - but does it really matter? as long as these guys are producing asskicking shows, and perhaps some good albums! that is all that really matters!

Not anylonger they aren't. Lights was so good in Boston that when Jeff said, "take out your cell phones and light em up and hold em high" it was magical seeing the ENTIRE crowd light up Massachussetts. Like I said earlier, you would not have known if it was 1983 or 2006. Open Arms is now sounding fresh. Just trust me, go and see for yourself. Hell, I am headed to Raisin Central in 2 weeks. Hello Fresno!

Wha! Stevie Wonder is blind?!?

Seriously though, after a slightly disapointing start for me everything I have heard of JSS lately is un-freaking believable! The guy is a phenom! A truly amazing vocalist.

A clip from Mansfield. Poor quality shot of the screen. Way too short. Still thought it was interesting. Just found this on youtube.

Hey Deano....could you fill us in on this? Also, what about the Borgota night? Thanks

I'm with Saint John 100% on this point. I can't see myself ever saying this is the best lineup in the history of Journey. Perry won't be replaced, ever, in my opinion. That's not a knock on Jeff, because I really do like the guy. I'll certainly be very happy if Journey ever becomes musically relevant again in the music industry, regardless of who is at the helm. I just don't know that the music industry will ever embrace Journey, sans Perry. I think the industry has already made it quite clear that they're not listening.
