Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, U2, Nickelback.....etc..etc....

These bands do not mirror Journey.

Def Leppard is being blown away nightly.

Bon Jovi makes Augeri led Journey look awesome. They lip more than anyone.

Aerosmith is junk.

U2 is overrated

I agree that it IS possible Deano. Why, all of a sudden, everyone is becoming decidedly negative, is mind numbing. Not to mention idiotic.

I feel this band is around because of the name they have which is "Journey", I also feel that the only reason the masses are going to concerts is becuase of the name attached. I also do not believe the masses went to go and see Steve Augeri because they enjoyed his vocals. As much as I enjoy JSS there, because he is a great singer - I feel he will be in the same situation as Steve Augeri.

These guys may and well release another kickass album, I have no doubt. Another hit?... I am not holding my breath, i'll believe it when I see it! :)

It's because Augeri made an appearance and all Wiggler hope has been renewed...

I think too many folks here lose sight of the fact that, no matter how emotionally attached you are to this band or one member, this is a business, plain and simple. If the band chooses to go on w/o Mr Augeri specifically because of his health issues then they are doing the right thing. You can't keep putting a 'sub-par' product in front of the fans just because you are 'dear friends' with someone. Augeri's health over the past year pretty much validates why Journey needs to make this change; Mr Augeri has become a liability and cannot be relied on to carry this band through extensive tours any longer. And touring is the bread and butter of a band like Journey now. They will never have the radio/tv commercial success they had in the 80s so all thier main revenue comes from touring. I do think they can actually 'chart' something with Jeff and new management, though. Again, with Augeri you are putting a 'sup-par' product in front of the fans and, little by little, those fans will start to evaporate.
Sure, the band stands to lose some of the big supporters of Mr Augeri but, with Jeff, they gain 10-times that back with his fan-base AND all the new fans they've picked up on this tour. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Mr Augeri is fine already, singing away at home, in the shower, on the shitter, demoing material for a solo effort or Tall Stories... Why think otherwise; He nor anyone close to him has given any updates. Management side-steps these questions like the plague. So whose to say he isn't actually back in good health and moving on with his 'post-Journey' life... And actually happy about it??? Fuck, just being able to say "former lead singer of Journey" will give him some leverage with any projects he decides to pursue!

What I want to know is this: Deano, AR and NIG...

were any hints dropped by the guys this past weekend on what thier plans are between this tour ending in November and the March UK dates??? Studio time? More Journey-Only shows in the States?

Actually, I'm not sure he would....another sappy ballad no doubt...I think the music biz is a different beast now, as is radio...no guarantee for a charting single at all.

I wondered about that, too. Unless there is a major effort from a major label, I don't see it happening. That is said with no disrespect to Journey - I'd have them on the radio all the time if I had my way - but it just seems not very likely. Thanks for your thoughts on this Andrew.

That being said... I hope Deano's right!! :D

That is a very BOLD statement coming from you Deano! And how would you propose Journey will suddenly have a hit single? Are there MAJOR labels knocking at their door wanting to put tons of money up front to promote this new CD and subsequent single(s)? Anything's possible, I guess..... and for the record, I'd like nothing more than to see Journey on the top of the charts again, BUT realistically, I don't see it happening.

Wombat,

Come on man, can't you cut me a little slack. Deano's been dishing it for so long it only seem appropriate to return a little, don't you think? I love JSS, don't agree with all of the hoopla, but love the guy. Maybe it was the beer talking?

Apologies if necessary,

Aaron

The sad fact is, in my opinion...Journey could put out the most ass kickin' album they have EVER done with Jeff, and it would go pretty much unknown...except to the hardcore fans.

True...for a few thousand people all over the world, maybe. Journey could put out the best song they've ever recorded. Is radio going to play it? No. They could put out an album that rivals Led Zep's IV. Is that going to sell out an amphitheater? Not without another band on the bill (like DL). I'm not trying to shit on anyones "parade"...my point is the sad state of rock-and-roll these days. I'll say it again...Journey could put out the best album they have ever done...hand's down....and no one beyond the hardcore fans will care. Sad...but true.

It is the sad state of the music business as well. They feed you this shit that they pass off as music, and that is what sells. Shit............. I don't listen to radio that much unless it is a Classic Rock station. The Britney Spears, rap, et al., sucks big time. Those music exects should get off their collective asses and do something about this blasphemy !

And furthermore....

Journey could put out a new album of 12 NEW ass kickin' songs...and 90% of the crowd at their shows would STILL want to hear the "greatest hits". I don't like it either...but it's the truth.

Boy do I agree with that one! Radio almost makes you have to listen to the top 40 .I call most of it bubble gum shit and rap to me is crap, in my opinion I know alot of people like it but I don't get it. So therefore I rebelled and have listened to Sirius radio for 2 years now I get the best of rock n roll anytime I want it.My fav. channel is Buzzsaw and Octane.

Wrong...hands down. THAT is what a label is for. If they don't get one, and I think they will, THAT is what management is for. Deano, I'm assuming you're referring to the idea, as it was shared by many (myself included), of a duet with a female singer. I believe we through around Gwen Stefani, Cheryl Crow and a few others. This was, and STILL is, a great idea. It's like Santana, without the "selling out" part.

EXACTLY...It just isn't going to happen.

They could release the best album and single they have ever recorded, go on a nonstop world tour, playing a show every day for an entire year....And, I doubt they will have any more success then, say, Chicago did with their last album.

That plateau Dean is on must not have much oxygen...Cuz, he is WAY over estimating the interest of the record buying public.

If this is going to happen, I wanna know:

What label is going to release the album?
What studio are they going to record in?
Who is producing it?

How much time are they going to take off the road to write, record, and produce the album?

How much time and money is the band itself willing to invest, and what specificaly are THEY willing to do outside of what a label will do for them?

How are they planning on getting this on the radio? What is going to be different now then what happened with Generations, except for the "Napster" thing?

WHY are they planning on doing all of the answers to the questions above when they could just go back on tour and make a LOT more money?

And, I know the peons on this forum will be able to put their spin to the above...However, those are questions the BAND needs to answer for THEMSELVES...and decide if that is really what they want to do - cuz it hasn't been ever since Arrival was released.

Just keep singing "Pearl Harbor sucks...and I miss you".

JUST FOR CLAIRIFICATION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE TEAM AMERICA MOVIE....The song is referring to the Pearl Harbor MOVIE and really rips on Ben Affleck and his acting "skills".

Just read this again...and realized not ALL people had seen Team America.

I was thinking about spoofing one of those songs here a while back...Love that movie, half to keep reading to see what you guys were talking about...

Well thats right. Honestly, Arrival was taylored for the radio wasn't it - it's completely raido friendly, catchy songs, good lyrics aswell. I am suprised it didn't do better, if an album such Arrival with all those songs on it didn't have a number 1 single... well I think it is safe to say the above statements by Monker are pretty damn accurate. You can argue back and forward as much as you all want!

It won't make any difference.

I gave my take on the upcoming music/song/hit. Those who don't believe, well, I am not surprised. Monker never agrees with me on anything, yet he is wrong on everything. Some here always side with him, and always go against me, and some side with me as well. I think I have accumulated some Melodicrock capital here lately, and I intend on spending some of it.

There will be a hit song on radio next year, and Journey will be involved. That's all I am saying.
