Can you be a little more general with this statement? I mean, are you predicting that Journey will open for the band with the hit song?

He alluded to it in a prior post. I believe it is the idea of a duet. Perhaps Journey featuring Gwen Stefani, Cheryl Crow, etc. And it IS a great idea. One that many of us have talked about. As I said earlier, it's the Santana strategy without "selling out."

Come on Deano, you're being way too fuckin' vague!

That could mean a lot of things...
Friga's writing material with Jon Bon Jovi for the next Bon Jovi Country Album or with someone like Cherl Crow.
Neal's gonna play some guitar licks on the next Santanna.
Deen's gonna lay down some studio tracks to the highest bidder...

I asked before and I'll ask again:
What have you heard, since you spent some quality time with AR, NIG and the band this past weekend, as to any plans between Nov and March??? Studio time??? Some Journey-Only shows in the States??? Duet with (Insert Female Pop/Rock Star here)???

Actually, I'm not sure he would....another sappy ballad no doubt...I think the music biz is a different beast now, as is radio...no guarantee for a charting single at all.

You're right, no guarantees..........but back in 97 Journey's When you Love a Woman even after a 10 year abscence got lots of radio play and I think reached around #15. Journey didn't exactly fit in with the Spice Girls, Backstreet boys, Jewel and Puffdaddy's of the time either. I think when it's good it works, and when it works it's good. :) Every generation, the ballads seem to work..........from Journey and Styx, to Hootie and Blowfish, to Creed, to Coldplay, and now the John Mayers and James Blunts, etc.

Of course I am. I am calling you, me, and everybody else on this forum a peon. That's what we are, whether you wish to admit it or not. I've said the exact same thing in the past.

You do know what a peon is, do you not? It is somebody of insignificance...In the BIG picture, that is what we are - insignificant to what Journey decides to do, how they do it, when they do, who they do it to, and what orifice the do it in.

While Deano IS being quite vague I'm pretty certain he does mean this Journey lineup. Perhaps with a "special guest" though.

EXACTLY. Arrival is the most success a post-Perry Journey is going to have. It just isn't going to be any more successful then that.

Well thats right. Honestly, Arrival was taylored for the radio wasn't it - it's completely raido friendly, catchy songs, good lyrics aswell. I am suprised it didn't do better, if an album such Arrival with all those songs on it didn't have a number 1 single... well I think it is safe to say the above statements by Monker are pretty damn accurate. You can argue back and forward as much as you all want!

It won't make any difference.

Not only that, JDK helped pick the songs for it. He enlisted Jack Blades to help the songwriting. He was instrumental in getting Augeri in the band. The band bent over backwards for the label and they got what they got from Sony...a release with hardly any support from the label. THAT prompted both sides to part ways.

So, WHY would Journey want to be on a major label. WHY would Journey TRY to have a hit? WHY would Journey take the time away from the money on the road to do what it takes to MAKE a hit?

NONE of it makes sense. It's a fantasy.

Back beforeTBF was released, someone on the Journey mailing list got an advanced copy. The singles were out, including "When You Love a Woman". The guy on the mailing list, who pretty much is your twin personality, INSISTED there were "better ballads on the album" and "there are at least three more hit songs coming up"

So, excuse me for not taking the word of somebody who is VERY biased and seems to go against every logical reason against these 'predictions' happening.

I have absolutely NO reason to believe it will.

With a tour, I believe "If He Should Break Your Heart" and "Forever In Blue" would've charted on AC. IHSBYH was the best ballad in my opinion. Awesome song. Neal's guitar "talks" on that song.

Well, I'm going to be VERY specific.

Journey, the BAND - not guests on other albums, will not have a top 10 album or single next year.

First of all, we were talking POP charts back then. We hadn't reduced Journey to only being able to chart on AC.

Secondly, the FACT is - it didn't happen - none of those charted.

Thirdly, I consider ALL of those songs mediocre at best - especialy compared to Journey's pre-ROR songs with Perry. I doubt they would have charted, even with a tour. Did a tour help Arrival singles chart? Nope...Touring is PART of promotion - not all of it...and TBF had PLENTLY of promotion.

Hmmm, don't remember if it was Meanie or Jim Rudd...I don't think Meanie posted much to the online forums, so it was probably Jim Rudd. The two were basicaly the mirror image of TNC and Dean...Same posts, different names.

It's funny, in a way, cuz TNC and Dean think they are so unique...The reality is Meanie goes back about 10yrs...and Jim Rudd goes back almost 15!

They insert a hollow tube in the anus, then! they let a Gerbil inside and run around their rectum, they take out the tube. When the Gerbil dies, they then crap it out later... that's what happens. Gross isn't it, true or false? apparantly true.

From South Park:

A great adventure is waiting for you ahead.
Hurry onward Lemmiwinks, for you will soon be dead.
The journey before you may be long and filled with woe.
But you must escape the gay man's ass, or your tale can't be told.

Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks!

Lemmiwink's journey is distant, far and fast!
To find his way out of a gay man's ass!
The road ahead is filled with danger and fright!
But push onward Lemmiwinks with all of your might!

The Sparrow Prince lies somewhere way up ahead!
Don't look back lemmiwinks, or you will soon be dead!
Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks, the time is growing late.
Slow down now, and seal your fate.

Take the magic helmet-torch to help you light the way,
there's still alot of ground to cross inside the man so gay!
Ahead of you lies adventure, and your stregnth still lies within!
Freedom from the ass of doom is the treasure you will win!

Lemmiwinks has made it out, his tale is nearly through!
Now that you're the Gerbil king has more adventures to go on!
Fly away to faraway lands and to the setting sun!
So many enemies and battles yet to fight!
For Lemmiwinks the Gerbil King's tale is told throughout the night!

Le-Le-Lemmiwinks
Lemmiwinks
Lemmi-Lemmiwinks Lemmiwinks,
Lemm-Le-Lemmiwinks Gerbil King!
