Deano, I'll keep buying them anyhow dude. I'm pretty hardcore that way. And seriously, thanks for posting the boots. Those are the best quality boots available thus far.

Sorry Aaron. I guess you can stop buying Journey CD's.

I respect your opinion but my wife and her friend are big time 80's Journey fans. My wife's friend didn't even know that Augeri wasn't singing with them and yet they both were VERY pleased with what they heard. Jeff can sing a ballad as good as any one. Listen to his Essential Ballads CD. Some real nice melodies. I don't think they will totally get away from any ballads and morph into Judas Priest or anything. There should be some radio friendly new stuff for the masses as well as some harder edge stuff. Hell, the Live In Houston DVD with Perry has a lot of the more rocking tunes as opposed to ballads.

I think you can bet on that. I wouldn't know for sure, but I don't think they will stray too much. The rockers may rock a little more if I had to guess.

He was just missing the sound of Perry. Understandable, really. But - aside from the vocals - Journey sound pretty much the same as they always have done to me.

Tapegate aside, I actually prefer SA's voice.

Wish he could still sing. He was fine. He hasn't been able to do it for quite some time. Now you have a singer who grew up on the material and cares about it. Believe it!

JSS's voice has major cojones, unlike SA. Sorry, but SA was way to light and sappy for me. :D

Aaron wrote:So Dude, why don't you explain what my "agenda" is then. Just because I'm not on the band's ass kissing train like you are means I have an agenda? The bottom line is I don't care for the current line up, I don't think it sounds like Journey. It sounds like I'm not the only one either. But its just my opinion. So does it also mean that you have an "agenda" because you have your head so far up the band's ass that your ears are covered and you can't hear the music? I have my opinion and you have yours, I'm fine with that. If you're not ok with that then fuck off dude.

Eric wrote:Aaron has an agenda...the "son laughing" bit proves that.

He and others that don't wish to embrace a new direction can go buy the re-issues and listen to them at home. The rest of us can have a blast for years to come.

Thanks Deano...and guys for posting these in yousendit

My agenda is I support Journey. Your laughing bit was just ridiculous. I've never seen a crowd more into Journey than this summer...

I respect your opinion his voice isn't fit for Journey (although don't agree) but the "laughing" is way past an opinion....

You wouldn't if you heard some of the boots I have heard. People seem to think that Augeri did a better job than JSS because his voice was more like Perry's but Steve struggled with the high notes many times. I have a boot of the song Escape from 2001 that sounds like the same kind of voice trouble he recently had. Hoarse & missing the notes. Jeff's voice has more power and projects better allowing Neal to turn up the guitar a bit because he won't drown out Jeff as easily as Augeri.

Fine - but SA wasn't the one who created the distinctive or 'signature' Journey vocal sound. He tried to recreate that sound. And JSS doesn't.

My opinion is that SA replicated it decently for a couple of years. Unfortunately he didn't know when to step down. JSS can capture the vibe of the past but be his own man and try to move forward.

Exactly. I can think of a dozen reasons why I prefer Soto over Augeri. I don't want Augeri or anybody like him trying to "recreate" Perry. He did not succeed. It can't be done.
JSS is way ahead of Augeri when it comes to vocal power, energy, soul and overall talent. He isn't Perry with a ______ (you fill in the blank), and he isn't being promoted that way, thank God. If JSS writes more than a couple of songs with Journey within the next year that are good, that is still better than what Augeri has done with them in 8 years. That was a big waste of 8 years, IMO.

They are just really great live right now. Believe me, I like all versions of this band. Right now, it is as good as it gets. The harder edge is just what it should be. But the ballads and hits are there too.

Edge, Keep on Running, and DOA make Journey SMOKE!

How can Leppard follow that with their crappy boy band shit?
