Foreigner

Postby monster » Sun Sep 10, 2006 4:46 am

Hello all

Been listening to some Foreigner boots lately from 79 - 82 ( prime ) and 2006.
Forgot just how good they were in their prime. :D

Listened to Kelly Hansen singing Foreigner songs in 2006 and didn`t really notice it wasn`t Lou Gramm.
He has a cracking voice mirroring early Lou Gramm. If I`d realised earlier I would have gone to see them live.

Anyone else have any thoughts on Foreigner old or new?

As anything been posted before that maybe I have missed?

Thanks in advance

I thought that if Lou was leaving again, Mick shoulda tapped Johnny Edwards once more.

That said, Hanson does sound amazing like vintage Gramm on some parts of the Extended Versions live album, less so in other parts. Overall I'm not comfortable with it being "Frnr" still w/ Jones as the sole remaining prime/vintage member.

I agree that they shouldn't be called Foreigner with only Mick left, but they do sound pretty good- I would buy a new CD if this lineup puts one out. Johnny Edwards, that's the guy that replaced Lou the first time wasn't it (don't have the CD in front of me); I thought that was a pretty decent CD...
I really like Lou (second only to Perry for me)- dude's been through a lot the last few years, hopefully, he will be well enough to come out with something new eventually.

I have always like Kelly Hansen. I think he is a good seasoned vocalist that can give Foriegner a little kick start. I recall hearing a rumor that the amazing vocalist Mark Free was in a position to take over when Lou left but the spot ended up going to Johnny Edwards. I think if Mark took over lead vocals it would have given the band far more success than Johnny Edwards. He (Mark) has a really unique and powerful voice. He can belt and croon with the best of them and can perform any style. I wonder if they (Mick and Mark) ever had the chance to record anything? Anyway, I look forward to another Foreinger album!!
