OT: Really Old Rock Music................

Last month, my 20 year old daughter visited me and her sister, and she said....... "Mom, I need your help on this cd I have. It is old rock songs and I don't know who it is" At first she thought it might of been the Doors ( which one of their songs are on this compilation). So I said let me see it and I will figure out what it is. Needless to say it was a compilation of music I hadn't heard since I was a teenager ! I have no clue where she got it, but damn, those songs brought back some memories. I finally listened to it, and put names to the songs. The artists on this cd are....................

Now, both of my older kids were raised on Classic Rock, especially Journey, and other artists of that time. But when I listened to this......... I was quite surprised that she had it, and is interested in the music.

Anyway, I thought I would share, since I am listening to the music now.

I'm always surprised when my youngest brothers are singing songs from when I was a kid or even earlier. My sisters aren't into classic Rock as much, but when you see your 22 and 17 year old brothers singing "your music" you get a smile on your face.

I'm a HUGE fan of 80's music, but I listen to Classic Rock stations and they don't play much 80's music except for the standard CR band songs. my Parents didn't have us listening to classic Rock music growing up, we pretty much listened to whatever we liked, and that's what stuck. My Dad was a beach boys fan and we hear di ti ALL the frickin' time, maybe that's why I wasn't a huge fan of theirs later on.

Well, considering we're talking about classic rock, how the heck has nobody brought up Creedence Clearwater Revival? Not exactly my generation (I was born in 1970) but some kickass rock and roll! Put on "Chronicle" and find a bad song! That is a masterpiece of music! Nothing better than dropping the top on the convertible and bombing down the highway at 80mph (ahem...I mean 55mph) with "Fortunate Son" blasting in the background!

Quit whining. The Beach Boys would have been ok in our house. My mother liked Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, & MORE Frank. I hated the chairman because of her. Later on, I sorta likes a few of his tunes. My Dad was cool though. He liked Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, & Johnny Cash. But then he also really got into my rock music. He LOVED Journey & thought Steve Perry's voice was the greatest thing he ever heard (did I say my Dad was a wise & smart man).

When I was growing up, I listened to an Oldies station( with the likes of the Supremes, etc), then when I found the Top 40 stations (KYA and KFRC on AM Channel. Both played Journey.), then I found FM !

I remember quite well CCR. They were on my list of groups to listen to back then.

Shit, Frank is all my brother wants to sing when he does Karaoke. In fact much of my family loves to sing Frank when I visit them, which is why I only go every few years anymore, to see them.

Our Classic Rock station is seriously stuck on Led Zep. I used to like Led Zep....
