I went to Tower yesterday to get FTLOSM and Street Talk. They had no more FTLOSM, so I have it on hold at another Tower (they may have only received one copy). Best Buy didn't have any of the Perry or the new Journey re-issues.

Record stores are making it way too easy for us all to continue the trend of buying our music online.

The Online Sony Music Store. The cds are $8.98 a piece + tax. If you buy three cds they will give you Free UPS shipping with a tracking number. I don't think you can find a better deal.

They're making it even easier to download shit for free online. Tower has a lot of great stuff but I'm 25...they really think I can afford $17 for a CD? And god forbid if it's one of those "special editions" with an extra CD that cost 25 cents extra to manufacture, you're talking at least $25.

I used to buy dozens of CD's, my collection is at around 1,400 right now, but I'd wager at least 80% were bought used for $7 or less, but most of the used stores have closed now. It's kind of sad, really...I miss filing through rows of used CD's looking for that elusive bargain and stumbling across something fun you didn't even know existed.

Fred, you might want to give Borders a call. I've found some CDs there that I couldn't find elsewhere. If they have what you're looking they'll likely hold it for you.

Thanks Yak. I'll check Best Buy. They're right across the street from each in my neck of the woods.

But Mark got my "Street Talk" & "FTLOSM" at "FYE" - "For Your Entertainment" here in CT - with NO PROBLEMS.

I don't want the re-issues, I want new music.

Those old songs are so implanted in my head, that cleaning them up doesn't mean much to me. Fuck, I've had them on album, cassette, some on 8-track, and CD.

Bonus tracks? That's cool and all. Not saying I won't get the re-issues, but every band I've ever loved wants me to re-buy the old catalogs. Not happening.

Upon listening to the re-issue of FTLOSM, not only am I enjoying the two previously unreleased tunes, but I have noticed a significant difference in the sound of many others.
A lot of people complained about the production of Strange Medicine, but I can hear vast improvement on some tracks. There is a discernable difference throughout the CD and it actually sounds like some of it was re-mixed and not just re-mastered.
There is even an extra measure added to "Young Hearts Forever" with an extra "no, no" vocal ad-lib near the end.
"Listen To Your Heart" has a deeper bass sound and comes across more heavy than before, and the fade in on the intro of "You Better Wait" (the harmony part) is noticibly changed. Also the instrumental part near the end of of "For the Love of Stange Medicine" is much less muddled with each instrument clear as a bell and recognizable.

To the casual listener, these alterations probably mean nothing, but I for one am enjoying the new version of this album.

FYE has the releases & when I went a few months back they also had the earlier cd's. The sound is better and I noticed the clarity of the instruments. I want to buy ROR ,Mt Aire, that Perry thought there may be enough usable film for a DVD. It would be to die for ,actually !

Out here in the Sacramento, CA area we still have a small chain called "Dimple" records that still sells the used CDs. Great store. Though I do miss the little local used record stores too.

Got two of mine, Street Talk, and SP Greatest HIts + 5 at Tower, ordered the rest from Amazon. Great prices and also free shipping if you spend $25.00. That's not hard to do with all these re-issues.

Now that Tower Records has been sold (to be liquidated), I'm wondering if they have any of the new CDs, or if they stopped ordering new stuff knowing that they were going to be sold? Just might check them out.

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN! TESTIFY, brother!

Let me add my voice to the choir! Target ... absolutely SUCKS for Journey music. My wife loves to shop there, so naturally, I'll stay in touch via the walkie-talkie (the cell ph), and wander off to the books/music/game section. I can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES I have looked for Generations there, and it WAS NEVER THERE!!!! ALL THEY EVER HAD WAS THE GREATEST HITS!!!

To this day, they don't have anything else BUT THE GREATEST HITS.

I'll be damned if I go looking for any remasters there!

At Best Buy, I got Journey's off the cart before they were filed in CD racks.
Just one copy each, nothing of Perry's reissues were available.

Circuit City just had Perry's GH. Nothing else.

I finally got Perry's 3 at Tower, and they were UNDER the racks in the storage area....
