ALL TIME JOURNEY CONCERT

Postby zino » Sat Oct 07, 2006 10:02 pm

OK,

This is a bit of a reach but these are the things you think of on a 10 mile run and I tought I would share this and we could have some fun with this.

The band will be as follows

Drums : Steve Smith & Deen
Bass : Ross
Keys : Cain & Rollie
Guitar :um......will go with whats his name again oh NEal

Heres the part we need to use our imagination
Singers,

Perry, Augeri and JSS

Each singer get 6 songs + there are 6 wild card song to do as you please
( Lets for a moment forget all the stuff with Augeri and say Augeri from 98-01)

JSS : Chain Reaction, Where Where You, Edge of The Blade, LTS, Send Her My Love, Stone In Love

Augeri: Remember Me, Higher Place, Wheel, Ask The Lonley, Faith In The Heartland, Faithfully

Perry: Lights/StayAwhile (snuck in an extra), Open Arms, Escape, When You Love A Women, Seperate Ways, I'll Be Alright Without You

Wild Card : Rollie, Just The Same Way
Perry/ Rollie : Feeling That Way/Anytime ( another xtra)
Deen After The Fall, Who's Cryin Now
Perry One More
Perry/JSS/Augeri - Any Way

Again this is just for fun and too create a bit of conversation

I know where Journey stands as a band now and I am in full support of a JSS fronted Journey !!!

Haha.

Yeah sounds interesting, but if Perry was to come back I don't think there would be any other frontman there! most certainly not Steve Augeri... but I know it's a dream concert. I'd rather just watch Houston 81 DVD, or maybe even a new show with JSS on DVD (if it ever happens).

You are giving Augeri Faithfully?

You should be banned from this board for life for that ridiculous comment. In fact, I would give him Remember me and that's it... I can't believe I just read that. Unbelievable.

Well, the idea of Steve Perry handing over the micophone to another singer immediately makes this a nightmare concert....but for the sake of conversation I'd like to see:

Perry singing six songs from his era...opening with "Only The Young" and after that I don't care which ones.....as long as his set is biased toward 1980-1986.

Augeri singing whatever from his time in the band...and I can go outside for a cigarette.

JSS singing six NEW songs.

As for the drummers...well, I was always a fan of the double drum solo which Genesis used to do in the 1980s - so one of those please.

And I wouldn't let Rolie anywhere near a microphone...but I'd like to hear a Rolie/Cain keyboard 'duel'...even though it might all get a bit 'jazz odyssey'.

Oh...and let's not forget a special guest appearance by....Randy Jackson.

In our dreams, we can all imagine what it would be like to see Perry, Rolie and Smitty together again on stage, even for one night...but when we WAKE UP, unfortunately, reality sets in. :(

Could it happen? Doubt it. BUT, never say never, I guess....I wonder what it would take to get all of them together again, be it for one amazing surreal night or even for a short 10 city tour? What label/promoter would be willing to put forth the millions to make it happen? Surely, MONEY still talks? Would Perry still NOT do it for any amount of money thrown at him? How much would it take to make him say YES?

Just trying too have a little fun, sorry to upset.
Another thread being taking way too serious.
Seems like nothing can be said without your approavl

My thought was too give each singer one of the more famous ballads, Open Arms, Faithfully, Whos Cyrin and Send Her.

AGAIN LETS REMIND OURSELVES THIS IS NOT EVEN A GOING TOO HAPPEN, JUST TRYING TOO MAKE SOME CONVERSATION.

The last thing I want is for everyone to agree with me. I want riveting talk.

I am just saying, if you are going to discuss a dream show, give Augeri the easiest song to lip to.

Perry: Separate Ways, Don't Stop Believin, Open Arms, Line of Fire, Anyway You Want It, Patiently
Soto: Edge of the Blade, Keep on Runnin, DOA, I'll Be Alright Without You, Ask the Lonely. Swallow That Load
Augeri: Higher Place, To Be Alive Again, Signs of Life, With Your Love, Faith in the Heartland, Message of Love

Wildcard: Rolie/Cain Perry/Augeri - Feeling That Way/Just the same Way

I'd pay to see that.

He has to do a TBF tune because Perry is a lazy Pelican face. LOL

In effect, Augeri did the TBF tour in a sense. Shame, but it's somewhat true.

I wouldn't give him anything except Faith in the Heartland.

Haven't heard JSS live yet-so will let you know.

SP gets the rest--yes- I am a Perryhead- I guess- the guys voice was magical-, but I know I willl never hear him sing again--Everyone does realize that the guy had some kind of "breakdown" from all that crazy touring. I am looking forward to seeing the current line-up!

I also do not believe that he set out to hurt the guys in the band. Does no one believe he really had a hip problem??????

Edit: (Actually they played MOL on this show but did not open with it)

Same in West Palm one of the better shows I have seen, that was the year they had a fanclub presale on tickets and I got 2nd row center stage great seats. They actually did 4 Arrival songs Higher Place, Signs of Life, I Got A reason, All The things, and they palyed Remeember ME, very good show with MOL as the opener

That has to be one of the fucking stupidest comment I've ever heard any Journey fan ever make. Matthew you are such a Perry lover piece of shit you can't even realize how big Rolie's influence, talent and contribution to what Journey is today. Why don't you shut the fuck up!! Oh...here he comes...Mr Old School....

I'm not denying Rolie's talents as a song-writer and keyboard player. But to my ears his voice sounds flat and I tend to skip over the songs which feature his voice.

Just a question of taste. No need to have a heart-attack about it.

In the middle on this one.....while I'm not a big fan of the "Rollie only" singing tracks..........I absolutely love the Perry/Rollie mix of vocals. Just the same way, Feeling that way, and Anytime are right up there for me. :)

You're damn right, I am old school, and I get so sick and tired of people like you dismissing the beginnings of this band because your God wasn't around to lend his high pitch continous whine. I love Perry as much as the next guy, but he was a fucking prick, who pushed people out of this band to get his way. He may be one of the premier vocalists of our time, but that does not give him the right to treat other people in the band like shit. He wasn't the ONLY reason this band had success. And if you'd ever pull your head out of your ass and get off your knees worshiping Perry to give the first three albums a real listen to, you might find that the magic sound that made this band so great was already in place.

The songs that Perry and Rolie traded lead vocals on are some of the best Journey has ever done.

Sure, the beginnings of the Journey sound can be heard on those albums. Who ever said they weren't? But change was needed...the band was about to dropped.... and after Perry joined the band took off. Even Herbie Herbert and Neal Schon - who frequently crap on Perry's character - have the good sense to admit that.

I've never said that Perry was the ONLY reason for Journey's success. But it is a cold hard fact that Journey have never achieved success without him. It's all in the chemistry Perry had with his bandmates.

"because your God wasn't around to lend his high pitch continous whine. I love Perry as much as the next guy,"

Make up your mind. Do you love his voice or not?

but he was a fucking prick, who pushed people out of this band to get his way.

Yes, Perry was an egotistical and ruthless. I don't know what fluffy, make-believe world you're living in - but believe me...it isn't unusual for a successful rock star to behave badly.

And if you'd ever pull your head out of your ass and get off your knees worshiping Perry to give the first three albums a real listen to, you might find that the magic sound that made this band so great was already in place.

The beginnings of the magic sound were already in place. I will take your advice though and listen to those early albums again. It's been a while since I heard them and maybe this time I'll appreciate them more than I used to.
