Good question.

Is there anything in the sleeve notes which might give a couple of hints about new 'post-production'? Haven't got my new copy yet....

Well, there's a HELL OF A LOT MORE STUDIOS LISTED than before....and I always read liner notes on all CDs:

Recorded at Ocean Way, Hollywood, CA
One on One, N. Hollywood, CA.
Record Plant, Hollywood CA.
The Enterprise, Burbank, CA.
American Studios, Woodland Hills, CA.
Knightlight Studios, Dallas, TX.
Dallas Sound Labs, Dallas, TX.

 TEXAS?!

Hey - wouldn't it be something if I WAS CORRECT?

That would shut EVERYONE up about his "lost voice"

Nora, from when. ?Does anyone know. Will get it tomorrow. :)

Who knows?? But it IS new....and it sounds RECENT...

How does a voice "sound recent?" What in the Hell are you trying to say? Are you trying to tell me/us, that Perry went into the studio, as recently as last year, and laid down new vocals for a re issue? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard or read, and I have read lots of Abitamans' crap.

Yea, that makes sense, redo your vocals on a record that is a reissue, but don't put out anything new

Folks, it didn't happen.

No...it means that it's a different vocal, and it sounds fresher and stronger than it did in 94 - TO MY EARS, OK...

SP himself said he was practicing....AND Joe Benson - a trusted source - said he witnessed Steve singing in a STUDIO within the last 10 months.

Just reporting what I heard that's different....that's all....

Notice that I changed the title to "It Sounds Like" - and it does - TO ME - this is all subjective.

You are starting to read like you are so desperate for anything new by Perry that you will invent things just so it's there.

No comment from me on those songs, since I don't own them - and don't plan to. But, I do find it VERY improbable that he rerecorded the entire FTLOSM album. It's a REMASTER, it's supposed to sound diferent.

No one here bashes our favorite guitar player either. Even with the patch on his pants-guess he can't afford new ones. :)

That album sucked donkey dicks anyway. Should be re-written AND re-recorded. Fucking snorefest.

And before anyone jumps in my grill, the first Perry solo was excellent.

From "Listen to your Heart":

1994:
"Every word I said
Every word is true..."

2006:
"Every word I say
Every word is true..."

Not only that....he ends on a high tone on the word "said".

He drags the tone down at the end of the word "say".

Nora,

I've NEVER believed that Perry ''lost his ability to sing", that is just what some do to tear Perry down. I sure can't wait to get my CDS, so I can HEAR THAT SWEET MUSIC of Steve Perry!!!!! :D

That's the joy of it all..

Dare I say,
this is Steve Perry
so throw out your preconceived notions
of what an ordinary person might do.

Who is to say a man of this estute sense of perfection
might not rerecord certain lines to give it the sound he wants.

It;s done all the time in music.
There are few of us that can get a perfect flawless recording.
Maybe he wanted to change a line

Does it seem likely?

NO!

No, for just anyone remastering a recording
but where Steve is concerned...
Who knows?

Why not!
If he wanted to
he could

If he wanted to
maybe he did

To me that makes it even more special!

8)

Listen To Your Heart

I decided to make a hash-mark listing everytime I heard something different in this song.

My total?

 20 vocal inflections that are different from the original.

I really want to believe this, and maybe im just screwed up, but i just played both songs (old and new) on 2 different computers at exactly the same time, and they sounded identical. I only went about half way through, are the different inflections at certain times? Yeah, i know im the one who thought it was a different vocal, but maybe it was just the remaster getting me....

The changes I'm talking about are MINISCULE....you need to be able to really "listen deep" into a vocal line to hear it.

Since I have what I call "Sonic Hearing" ~ what other peeps might call "Auditory Hallucinations" LOL ~ I can hear the tiniest change in anything.

This sounds like the same BS you guys were saying when listening to bootlegs a few months ago.

Even if it IS different, it doesn't mean it RERECORDED THEM with 'todays' voice.

Just a few posts ago you were saying that it was a more 'modern' sound, or whatever you said. You didn't make it out like you needed some kinda bionic hearing to sense them.

I think 'hallucination' is a good description...it seems you are hearing what you WANT to hear. Listen close enough, you can probably hear Augeri singing backup vocals, too.

Re-recorded? - no. There is a chance they did go over some other versions of the song recorded, perhaps used old material and cut and it in, there was probably left overs on the studio floor, and effects can change alot.

Um people. Did u ever think this might be Steve's "audition" to see if people still loved his voice? If it succeeds & sells well, we might hear more in 07. Think about it for a minute.

AR if this comes to pass, u know what u promised! Dean ur fucked too.
