Comparing Augeri and JSS....

Postby YoungJRNYfan » Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:59 am

Finding some clips from Virginia Beach back in '98 where his first night as the new frontman, and it seems like JSS doesn't even compare to Steve Augeri. His voice carries so much better and more clear.

Although Soto is a great stage presence frontman, Augeri is better as Journey vocals. As weeks and weeks in people breaking ice as saying JSS is the new lead singer, if anything, it will be a Journey Tribute band with him in there and to promote JSS into the lead singer would be to only sing Newer fresh things with the band other than Classic songs because Journey would turn into their own Tribute.

As bad as most people here want to see J.S.S become the Journey sound, I think deep deep deep down, people know Augeri needs to come back.

I guess any new Journey singer will get the "tribute" criticism thrown at them now and again. But I'd say that JSS is less of a tribute singer than Augeri was because his voice, look and personality are markedly different from Perry's. Unlike Augeri...who always struck me as being 'Perry lite'.

JSS was and is his own man. He is a respected vocalist who will bring credibility
and a strong vocal presence back to Journey. Cant wait to hear some new music !!

Fuck, I'd rather listen to a tape, rather than listen to just another guy sing Journey songs. That's your only defense Deano against Augeri. Steve was the singer to replace Perry, and has been for years upon years. If I wanted to listen to Soto take over, I'd rather just hear myself sing or get my uncle sing or whatever. It will have the same effect, a tribute. Soto ,he's talented, but listenin to him try to hit high notes is just that, sounding like a horses ass. Deano, you're a dick and a loser. Get a life, and oh yah, good luck with me getting the fuck out of here.

Take a look everyone, here's Deano's next victim for him to gloat over and put swear words in his posts, lets bump his post status up to 8550!! I mean this chick DID SING A JOURNEY SONG. As soon as JSS needs to use "tapes" be on call woman, Deano will be callin'

For me, it really depends on what you believe by your definition of a "TRIBUTE BAND" You could also say that about Perry as a tribute, as he replaced Robert Fleischman. Although Fleischman was the original, Perry made what Journey is today, and made Journey as hits of the world. It's the sound...the sound is what makes it a tribute with Soto. He's lower, and just a rocker. Journey is not known as a HEAVY kind of band. Augeri braught swag of the Perry era, and has that Journey sound, as what Schon and Cain was looking for. If anything, If JSS does replace Augeri via injury, then they must want to go in a different direction than in the past as far as sound goes. As someone mentioned already, if that happens, It would be exciting to hear new material from Journey with J.S.S at helm, but for awhile, it will be as if something would be missing...maybe Journey's charactor of sound if you will.

Wow, you cannot be serious? I assume you are an ardent Augeri fan. If this is your case or your defense, I feel for you.

That's your only defense Deano against Augeri.

That's the BIGGEST defense, or case, one can have against a singer; and I had/have it. Ballgame over.

Steve was the singer to replace Perry, and has been for years upon years. If I wanted to listen to Soto take over, I'd rather just hear myself sing or get my uncle sing or whatever.

Well then, might as well start singing, or cue your uncle, because JSS is the new singer.

You just fucked up. I am a dick and a loser because I kicked Stewve Augeris' ass? You are the loser for defending him. I got you pegged. BT closes up the restaraunt for the weekend and you come over here to troll. Big mistake.

And on some nights he had no sound at all! - As Elson and Co. purposely kept him so low in the mix to mask his declining vocals.

No, I never went on that site. I'd give you a million dollars to try to find my name over there. I do check it out once in awhile to see what's up, and all I found was nothing but praise for J.S.S. As for you or Deano, having a debate is out of the Question. You are all about argue. It's either you're way or no way to post. I'll defend BACKTALK. what the hell...as much as they seem to be lovers of Augeri, people like you and Deano make this a JSS love fest. Instead of fighting over my dad will beat up your dad, I'd rather talk the situation, make comparisons and move on, not fight and go on the defense, kind of like you and Deano .

Everyone is entitled to their own informed opinion, but comparing a 1998 Steve Augeri to a present-day Jeff is a moot argument.
Why don't u compare some recent (non-lipped) Augeri boots to present day Jeff?

Jeff is a better singer and much more versatile than Augeri.

I liked Augeri though , but he's done - and the last 2 years were something that should never have happened.

I've seen J.S.S in concert, twice. It was great, a great time. I've never had the chance to see Steve, so I was just making an comparison to Augeri and JSS from what I hear from him and from what I heard from Jeff. You're right, it's kind of a mute point since I've never seen Steve live. But, from what I got, my opinion,, Augeri fits Journey better, as he did for for about, oh 8 years or so.

Jeff doesn't "suck" He's a talented singer. We all know that. For me this isn't an fight over Augeri and Soto. I'm comparing the sound I hear from each singer, and what's best for JOURNEY...and that's Augeri  But I know you don't agree, so, so be it, whatever.

Why?
So I can park it between your baby-smooth buttocks?

Nah, I'll pass, but I'm sure Deano would like that, since stating in some of his posts he'd bone Soto. Or somewhere along those lines. So you can be queers together. good luck with the relationship
