Poll: Post TBF, what should Jon and Neal have done?

Postby SF-Dano » Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:43 am

It is late 1997, and it is becoming obvious that Perry is not going to return. What do Neal and Jon do? Just curious as to how people would answer this poll. Sorry if this was done in the past and I missed it.

Early on in his tenure, Augeri was witnessed to have been getting neck massges in-between songs. His brother commented publicly that Steve could hardly talk after shows.
These are all red flags that probably should have been heeded sooner than they were.

After TBF, the guys did mainly the right thing, but Deen should've been helping out since the beggining.

That, or hired the rightful heir to the Journey throne, Kevin Chalfant (along with Gregg)!

I did enjoy all of Augeri's work with Journey. Was it the best? No. But I did enjoy the albums none the less. With this said however .......

this is the road I would have preferred they try. As I have said before, having Gregg back in the fold could be nothing but a plus, IMO. And I think you would have gotten the same, if not likely more, out of Chalfant that they got with Augeri.

I chose this.

However I think they made the right decision... they just went too far with it.

In order to have any vocalist follow in Perry's footsteps, they should have found a singer who was as good or better than Perry, imo.

Come one HOTS, we all know THAT is impossible...
The Voice is one of a kind :)

At least we got SOMETHING.
I think, in the studio, Augeri did some fine work.
LIVE, he never impressed me...
And that was all from seeing him 3 times pre-2006.
This will be interesting with JSS...

Is there anyone that would fit the bill in your eyes? Serious question. Can you name anyone?

They would have to replace Perry with "one of a kind" for Journey to move on from singing just their greatest hits. I think that Augeri has a good voice and I think that JSS also has a good voice. Both have covered the Journey hits and have made some people satisfied with Journey with them up front. I'm just having a hard time with it. If they got someone unique like Perry, I'd go for it. His unique vocals led me to the band and only someone as good as or better will get me to enjoy them again.

Don't really know of anyone off hand. I hope you all know that I was having fun with you guys when I suggested Neal sing? He does have a nice voice but sings without conviction.

Perry made Journey a very special band for me. He was unbelievable and so far irreplaceable but it's good that Journey is still trying. Gotta get the Journey hits to the people. Good on them!

Why?
Even the band's creator, Herbie Herbert, wanted Kevin to supplant Perry.
I'm not against JSS, I haven't even heard him yet.
I'm just saying it the way it is.
