He was a child prodigy like Schon...who came on the scene in the mid-70s and was - I reckon - the most explosive young talent in heavy rock until he started losing the plot in the early 1980s and never quite fulfilled his potential. Bit of a tragic figure in many ways...even more barking mad than Eddie Van Halen...

and then there was booze,, booze brought them both down i guess,, ACE hasent got half the talent of MS or EVH, but ace could have gone down as the coolest rock guitarist,, but booze ruled his life,, old drunk guy now,,

Yes - Michael Schenker was in the Scorpions in the early 70s and on the "Lovedrive" album in 1979. But you're probably thinking of his brother Rudi Schenker who has been an ever-present member of the band.

I know...it's really sad....but at least Ace and EVH enjoyed spectacular success in their careers (Ace for a much shorter time I guess). Schenker never got the success his talent deserved...mainly because he sabotaged his career at all the worst moments. UFO were just on the verge of cracking America in 1978...and he decided to walk away...and a similar thing happened with MSG too. Such a shame because Schenker was one of the all-time greats...whose style was actually quite similar to Schon's, don't you think?
