Radio Play means NOTHING to the average fan these days. With the internet and Satellite Radio companies, FM radio is useless.
You are right when you say if its not on the radio its a great song or the artist is good
That was SARCASM! I guess you think Paris and Lohan are legitimate superstars.
Take Easy To Fall the best JRNY song ever and it was never on the radio
Take Happy To Give same story
I agree that these 2 songs are good (I wouldn't rank them as 'greatest, JMO) but the sad state of radio in was the reason they were never played.
BUT when a band has been on the radio for 30 years and they dump there leader you can pretty much write off any radio exposure,
As far as JRNY they will never see radio again with new music
So Perry was thier "Leader" or is it more truthful that Perry became the "Self-Proclaimed and Self Appointed Dictator" that almost railroaded this band straight into oblivion? And as for 30 years, tie in all the breaks and non-touring/recording, Perry really only gave you about 10 solid years, at best. Was he an incredible showman, even when his voice was in decline? ABSOLUTELY. Was he the sole reason for Journey's success? No. If you can't see that Schon, Rolie and Cain played MAJOR roles in Journey's success then you are an idiot. Perry had the voice but most of the music and lyrics came from elsewhere. There is a buzz right now around this band and, believe it or not, I think things are coming around full circle, i.e. AOR-style/80s Rock is becoming "Cool" and "Popular" again. This band has a HUGE chance to get on the radio again if they play thier cards right.
They will also never see the RR Hall Of Fame unless Steve Perry comes back.
Who really cares???
