For those who didn't see it at the bottom of the last page...Well worth repeating...

JSS wrote:If I walked up to a journalist & blatantly told him 'I think your magazine articles suck, you really have a bad way of coming across with your words & stories, why not try another profession?', I would expect a finger, a few suggestive words or otherwise not a 'oh, sorry you don't like what I do, I'll try harder sir, do have a nice day!'. Think about what you write that sparks one to use words the way one does....even go back & look at the nature of how it might have been suggested or worded, it might help you understand human nature a little more.

Regarding 'professional nature', am I supposed to all of a sudden be the poster child for Disneyland? No...never, I am who I am, I treat everyone with respect that earns it & I expect the same in return, I care not about having my ass kissed by ANYONE, I worked hard to be a successful singer here in my own country & now I am getting my due with a band I truly admire & respect...this is not just a job for me here, this is beyond a fantasy I had when I was 14, singing & playing these songs in my garage with my brother in many a band.

I take this ABSOLUTELY seriously so yes, my guard is up for not just me but the band I was asked to come do a job for...excuse me for being abrasive at times but this is my passion & if someone fucks with it, I bite back, end of story, I make no apologies for my actions, I take all responsibilities for my reactions. Continue to enjoy life all, I'll say it over & over, I certainly am :) Cheers!

Just goes to show that the band has a backbone again. Someone willing to be himself, state how he feels, and MOST IMPORTANTLY bring passion back to the creative process. JSS is EXACTLY what this band needed. They were, in my opinion, several months from extinction. Now, the future looks bright and the band's stage presence is infectious. Everyone I know that has attended a show has said the same thing....that it was electrifying. Has Jeff done THE best rendition of every, or any song? Probably not, but that's not what it's all about. He's doing them justice and then some, though. This is ALL about the future. About change....for the better. And yet, some people continue to gripe...FUCK EM'. Do I wish Perry would rejoin Journey? Yup. But I'm intelligent enough to know that reality is telling me that Jeff is the present and Perry was the past. A glorious past. I wish the same for the future....as would any real fan. Jon, Ross and Neal deserve that much.

That "spark" that you speak of is abundantly clear to those that HAVE gone to a concert or given the bootlegs an open-minded listen.

That stone has been broken all to pieces, but how about if you take some cement and make the pieces into a work of art, OK?

............................................

What's so great about covering songs that someone else made hits and copying their adlibs? Next he'll be growing a cookie duster and shaving it off to video. What's next, the tails?

Many very good vocalists are already doing what JSS is doing, in the many tribute bands and a few are better than him.

If and when JSS makes his own kind of music, then he can talk, imo.

i think you forget that jss is a steve perry fan too. if i was in his shoes i would be doing the same thing... i'm sure others would too! i find it endearing & see it as jss paying tribute to sp... not jss trying to take something away from his legacy. }:C))

anyway... jeff is putting his other life on hold so journey can fulfill their obligation... why the need to be so disrespectful? not saying you have to love jss but you don't have to be such a "dickhead". };C))

jss does make his own music...

wow...what a thread! First off - where can I hear this boot of the Hollywood Bowl WITS?

Next, I think it is unfair to JSS - geez, he was asked to take over as lead singer for Journey, why is he being attacked? His history shows he's one of the hardest working singers in the business, with a range of his own work...he has enormous respect for SP & Journey...and, omigosh, he's human & speaks his mind - like everybody else here! I imagine it won't be long before he won't bother to come back here to post again - happens to all band members (of any group) who get fed up. They probably wonder what the word "fan" even means!! So, those posters end up ruining it for everyone! And, yes, I am a devoted Perry fan, but I certainly don't feel the need to trash the singers that took SP's place.

As for Stu the 10 yr old fan who was crushed by SP's remark many years ago, I feel sorry for him - that must've stung. What I don't understand is why the father, who obviously had some power, didn't say something to SP then? I know if that had happened to my child I would have demanded an apology or blown up...and I am a non-confrontational person, but where my kids are concerned I grow claws! Anyway, like anything we don't know all the sides to a story, like we don't know all the sides to a public person we don't know personally!

I just read this thread & loved Jeff's posts. Heck of a guy. He says it like it is & lo & behold he's even human w/real feelings & all. I thought all rock stars were demi-Gods & primadonnas. How refreshing.

Naw, not all of them...

Only some of the ones named "Joe" and a douchebag named "Marc", as in Marc Torien, Bulletboys fruitcake...
You want to read some funny Primadonna shit, check out METALSLUDGE.NET and read up on Torien's outburt at a small club last month...

Classic example of a has-been Primadonna acting like a little, whiny bitch :)
