Me too! I'm a major Perry fan.......but I like Journey the way it is now with JSS and Deen. Do I think Perry can sing like he did in the 70s....extremely doubtful. Can he still sing....from the little I've heard, etc.......I'd BET on it! I'm also more prone to take Joe Benson's word on it (who's actually heard him sing in the last year), than peeps who haven't got a clue. Still got the email that Joe verifies Perry IHO still sounds as good as he did in the 80s.

I'd rather live in the present - and truthfully SP doesn't have the voice anymore.

He probably DOES still have a voice.
But he hasn't shown any inclination to want to return to the stage.
He probably achieved his dreams already and is content to just enjoy his money. No need to work, so why work?

He got major recognition for his vocal talent and his music.
He got to experience audiences on a HUGE scale. He sold millions of copies of music he co-wrote and helped make magical.
He made big bucks, and the bucks still roll in even though he doesn't have to leave the house to earn them anymore.

Most of us in this life just want to earn enough money to maintain a decent standard of living, to be have our efforts acknowledged/appreciated and to love/be loved.
And I bet many of us would give up our jobs if we were financially secure at a relatively young age.
From what I've read, he seems content to stay out of the limelight and is satisfied with his past achievements. He seems financially well off and is just enjoying the fruits of his past labours.
Many people would envy that.

I wish I could afford to retire - even though I enjoy my work. Early retirement with loads of money in the Bank would compensate me for not working. :)

He should NOT return.
It's too late for him to go back even if he wanted to.
The Journey machine has moved on.

If he were to release some new solo stuff, though, that would be a different matter. :)

Am I the only one who watched SP at the White Sox WS Rally singing DSB? It's history. Maybe a solo album/tour but that's it IMO.

No, you're not. I saw exactly what you saw. I also saw him in the stands screaming his ass off for 4 games. Remember, he wasn't performing, wasn't prepared to perform and most importantly, wasn't trying to perform. He was a BASEBALL FAN, nothing more. I hate when people try to critique him for the World Series celebration. If I see Richard Petty driving on the highway and a car passes him I don't say, "Man, good thing he retired. He can't even break the speed limit anymore."

Perry is as vocally ready to sing as he has been in the last 20 years. He was NOT ready to sing for TBF. He was an emotional wreck and not in the greatest vocal shape. Herbie Herbert seemed to be the only one that saw that. However, as of late, he has been writing AND recording. The decision is ultimately his, but I'd bet we hear an announcement between November and April. My guess is March. He's gonna do something this year. IF he doesn't, I will then be prepared to say that we've seen the last of him. I've just heard so much shit about him that I'm fairly certain that he's planning something a bit challenging.

I talking about the rally in the city after they won. When SP was called out on the stage and sang. I am not talking about the locker room or in the stands.

"I'll take Perry at 70% over 99% of the other singers out there today!"

He will probably never do anything with Journey again but he still has enuff of those pipes left do do something
if he could just have the confidence to try...

I am not talking about the locker room or in the stands. I will find the clip and post it. I am talking about the championship rally/parade.

Keep in mind I love SP and think is the greatest singer of all time. I have met the man and he was not an asshole to me. I just think Journey is on the right track and let's go forward.

It was NEVER about confidence. He had some "demons." Namely addiction, (mostly alcohol) depression and social anxiety. Addictions often times lead to anxiety or social phobias. That SEEMS to be all cleared up now. He wasn't seen for so long for a variety of reasons. The dude is FINALLY happy again. He seems ready to sing again and I hope he does. Like I said earlier, I really believe this is his last chance. He's vocally ready. THAT I know for sure. It's all about desire. Does he have the desire to put out an album? It's such a grueling process because he's so meticulous. Touring? THAT seems to be a very slim possibility, but you never know.

You know, all this talk of the acrimony that Journey when through reminds me of Metallica and their history together. I'll tell ya what (ala Hank Hill), that DVD movie of theirs was an EYE-OPENER. It was incredible to see the behind the scenes struggles that the members went through. That one part when Lars is getting right James' face and I thought "Man, if they get into it, something's going to break!"

I'm sure there were times like that in Journey too. I doubt that any band that stayed together for a long period of time was exempt from having personnel problems.

Hopefully the band and Perry come to their senses, put the past bullshit behind them, and give the fans the ultimate return!

You nailed it
YES the time is right now for Perry to make his move back to the band
JSS is a great singer and an all around nice guy I can see that BUT
We do not need to go down this road again
WE NEED JOURNEY TO RETURN
Im also talking about Greg Rollie and Steve Smith comming back as well
We can call it THE JOURNEY UNION

The first show would be with an orchestra
Just like Stevie Nicks just did.

Perry would be able to sing for the First Time When You Love A Women- Happy TO Give- Easy To Fall
and I Stand Alone

How unbelivable would that be

I call on everyone to set an intention for this to happen.

Oh, please...This is just TOO LAME.

First of all, if they wanted to do a Union thing, it should have been done prior to TBF with the Storm mixing with Journey. If you are going to steal a Yes idea, at least make it have some sense about it....it's WAY too late for that gimmick.

Journey with an ORCHESTRA? NO WAY! I don't even want to think about how that would sound.

"Perry would be able to sing for the First Time When You Love A Women- Happy TO Give- Easy To Fall and I Stand Alone "

...and girlfriends and wives would be nudging their dudes to quit snoring in their ear.

I'd rather pay $75/ticket for THIS band then have to sit through what you are asking for.

Thank God it won't happen...neither your idea, nor me spending $75/ticket to see this band.

Um blonde at the pc here what does NOMOTA stand for?

I'd give the world to see Perry on that stage singing Journey songs again w/the boys. But I'm too scared that if that happened it would be one or two shows & then Perry would quit again or they'd all get mad at each other about something.

Jeff is awesome in every way. & he is hardworking. He seems to like to keep busy. So he's the man for Journey-ing into the future.

I hope & pray Perry sings again. I really do. If he tours I'll be there.

& my all-time fantasy is to see him get up on that stage & sing along with Jeff some nite. But it's just a fantasy. I'm allowed :D

It means *NO More Tails*, it's so stupid for the simple reason that they wont push forward with new music! Whether they like it or not they have been riding Perry's coat tails since that beautiful day in 1977 until present time.

It also looks like they will continue to ride them coat tails, cause just like Augeri's music was shunned so will the new music with JSS. JMO!! :D

And don't give me that shit that Agueri & JSS are breathing new life into the songs cause that's a fucking laugh! No one needs to breath any kind of life into the classics, they aren't called classics for no reason you know. Classics means they are perfect & beautifully sung by the original! :D

Eat shit squirt, I don't give a rats ass what Joe Benson says... Perry can pull it together for a few bars or even a song, but no how no way can he do a concert and in no way could he do a whole tour.
That's the truth.
