Honey give yourself a post it to never attend a
concert with me then because I am asinine
loud and wailin!
It's a concert, if you want the seclusion of the singer
stay at home.
Sorry HOTS just my two coppers

..............................

I've been to many concerts and the one's that I have enjoyed the least were when someone being asinine, loud and wailin was sitting near me. I'm not always that unlucky. I hope you understand.

HOTS of coarse I understand, you hope for different things
at a concert is all and thats cool. :)

It's pretty clear: Perry-Only is ur category.

Oh. I thought Perry-only meant that you absolutely didn't want anyone else fronting Journey but Steve Perry. I felt like that for a while, but now I just want a new Journey that's really new and a frontman that I feel has what it takes to be fronting Journey. I think Jeff has it and I want Journey to use it. The reason I would only attend one concert if they don't do new stuff that I like is because I wouldn't be interested in paying good money to hear the same songs done again, even if Steve Perry was singing them. If I just want to hear that music played live and have a great time on a night out Frontiers is a lot more accessible to me and doesn't cost as much. 8)

I don't mind that at all...as long as the gal sitting on the guy's shoulders is attractive...and topless, then I'm fine with it. :)

I hear ya Sherrie. Jeff does seem to be putting a new twist on the old classics tho & that's kinda worth hearing. Perry used to do that back in the day. He mixed them up a bit. Maybe to keep from getting bored.

Call me an old fogie but a Journey show w/out those classics just wouldn't feel right to me. I went to see Steely Dan a few yrs ago & was bored out of my brains. They did pretty much all new music w/only about 3 classic numbers. Way too mellow for me. The crowd (on the freaking lawn) were all sitting down and saying "shh" if anyone even spoke. Me & my buddies were getting loaded I admit...but we had to to stay awake. We were so totally bored. I don't want to see Journey do ONLY new music at a show. I'd sure like a mix of some new and some classics. But they have to do some of the classics or I'm not paying my good money to see them. I like to sing along (quietly) & I wouldn't be able to sing along w/new stuff till AFTER the CD was out for a while.

All that being said we have to give Jeff & Journey a little time to record some new stuff. He just joined in July & has been touring non-stop since on a tour already booked. Maybe next yr?

I don't think we're that far apart on this JRox. I'm not expecting to hear new music right away. I just want some future for Journey beyond the Greatest Hits. I think Journey and Jeff deserve more than that. I'd love to see Jeff do the hits one time, but then I want to see him make his own mark on the music. :)

And to add to that, I certainly don't mind if Journey keeps a "medley" of classic tunes in their concerts. That's the way it should be, but those songs should definitely be in the minority of what Journey plays live.

Yes, they need to acknowledge the legacy but not let it be the only thing they're offering. They're capable of better and I'm hoping they can prove it.

Gotta say I am type 2.
I get into the music and the event. Be it JSS or Steve A, if they miss a note, BIG DEAL!!
It's all about the songs for me.
I could listen to Neal all night. He is one of the few guitarists, that actually makes the hair on my arms stand up. A lot of people rant and rave about how it's only Journey if SP is singing. I agree SP was VERY responsible for the Journey sound, but IMO Neal was just as much a part if that sound.
Even though I am a HUGE SP fan, and he is my musical hero, Neal's playing is unmatched IMO.
Without a doubt the most under rated rock legend of my generation.
God, I would love to jam or write a song with him.
