Cheesy 80's video (not as bad as Separate Ways) but check out the vocals. JLT will always be one of my favorite vocalists. He pulls it off live too.

He's ok. Nothing special & unique like Perry tho. Sorry. & Jeff's voice is a whole heckuva lot more interesting than his.

Karen Carpenter...she had the most pure female voice I've ever heard.

Let the mocking begin.

Funny you should mention Jeff. I think Jeff sounds like JLT on certain (not all) songs, especially "Believe in Me"

Check out some more of JLT's material before you slag him off as "nothing special". And unlike Steve Perry, he has TONS of stuff to choose from. One of the hardest working singers in rock.

Karen Carpenter was the first person to use her own vocals in the background when she was singing live on stage. She had the voice of an angel!!!
My other favorite female voice is Alison Krauss who is with a band called Union Station, she and speak alike, but I wish I could sing like her!!!!

I never really listened to the Carpenters much when I was growing up, but my husband thinks she was fabulous so since he indulges my Journey music, I have to listen to the Carpenters once in a while.

It's not like I'm saying he's like Boston, or Guns & Roses (yuck) who's back catalogs you can hold in one hand. But SP's body of work - mainly 2 solo albums, and the Journey catalog (7 studio albums IRRC) is only so much. Plus very sparse offerings from him the last 20 years or so - and those recordings (FTLOSM and TBF) IMO pale in comparison to his earlier work .

Then you look at a Soto, Turner, Glenn Hughes, and there is just a wealth of material and they spit new quality songs/CD's out all the time. So in comparison, SP's body of work, while tremendous, just isn't as large as a lot of other top vocalists.
