Awww Larry, I loved that song/video too. Liked his voice. :) I have an old 4-6 hour tape full of stuff I taped off of Muchmusic (Canada's MTV) back in the 80s.....rock stuff. My brother borrowed the tape just to see what was on it (both into the rock music)......and he couldn't believe the stuff I had on there......Scorpions, Kingdom Come, Robert Plant, Journey, Whitesnake, April Wine, Y&T, Cinderella, Skid Row, tons of Bon Jovi, etc.......shit, I really need to put that on dvd before the tape disintegrates.

If you do I'll buy a copy from you full price !!!! This is the best thread of the day, thanks for all the links, they have all been awesome. I loved Skid Row.....make that dvd !!

Nah, wouldn't charge a cent, we's all music lovers here. Some of it is hastely taped (a few are partials..rushing to tape something and taped over part of the one before. Believe it or not I only taped half of Why Can't this night go on forever  ) and a few are not the greatest quality......I'll have to see what I can salvage onto dvd when I get time. :)

Check out this guy...
Guitar player named Marchello, had an album out in 88 or 89 called "Destiny"( I had the cassete)...
When I first heard this song back then, I 'knew' it wasn't Perry but it was scary :

Gee,Carl, that was amazing...he does sound a lot like perry, but all these guys that sound like him are still missing that certain something, I can't put my finger on it and also I don't know the right musical terminology to use to describe it..whether it is tone, or phrasing, or pronunciation, but something......... :)

Does sound like Perry......especially in the way he drags out a word.....can hear it then.

Loved this song by Lenny Kravitz and noticed she was in this vid too, have to admit she is a gorgeous woman.

Oh, good grief, I can't think of all the weird mistaken combos I"ve gotten over the years, but I get a lot of, "was that...".

Styx mixed up for Kansas

Tom Petty for Bob Dylan

"Dream Weaver" by Styx

Joan Jett and Pat Benatar mixed up.

That song came on XM today, and man, did it sound like an outtake from Raised on Radio! The guy isn't a vocal dead-ringer for Perry, but it was clear (especially in the chorus) that's the sound they were going for. However, the lyrics read like a laundry list of AOR lyric cliches:

_____________________________________________
Call To The Heart
Giuffria

Can I ever live without you girl
get back on my feet again
Now I'm lost in your world
And there's no simple way to let you go
when you've been such a part of me
And though you choose to walk a separate road
I still believe in you

So call to your heart, hear me calling to you
Oh I call to your heart, I'm calling to you

Distant voices in the silent night, call to a memory
Someone touched me but it don't feel right
It's only you I need

When I call to your hear
can you hear all the times
When I call to your heart
calling to you, calling to you
Call to your heart

Your love I lost along the way,
but darling I'll find you some day
Callin' to you, hear me call to you,
hear me callin' to you

Darlin' you remember the dreams that we had
I'd give everything, my world, to hold you again
And darlin' together, we can make it work out
So stay with me baby, I need you now

How about songs that Journey/Steve Perry sound like, instead of the other way around?

I believe Steve MUST have had this song in mind when they wrote/recorded "You Better Wait::"

If anyone EVER finds this, I will pay top dollar.

Back when "Introducing the Hardline.." came out by TTD, there was a 12" single released for (I believe) "Sign Your Name," which included 2 other songs on the record, I think....One was a funky studio fuckaround tune called "Greasy Chicken," and the other was the most amazing version of "Wonderful World" I have ever heard. Amazing.

Great underrated Canadian rock band. What years did you see them?

Agreed......I loved April Wine....so many great tunes. I think I was in my teens, so had to be very late 70s or very early 80s. Actually they are still kicking I guess, just played a date here this summer.....I didn't see it though, but my sister did.

Now, who didn't party to this one!

You got to see them in their prime that is when they finally broke through. I got to see them about two weeks ago at Arrowfest in Houston and they are still rocking. I have a lot of respect for them…you would think that a band that is relatively unknown who only had 45 minutes up on stage would play nothing but hits right? These guys played only about 4 big hits and 2 minor ones. Almost half the set consisted of a 10-minute kick ass drum solo and a very long but very good new song in support of an upcoming album. These guys really do rock and I can’t wait for their new album.

I hear ya, kicking myself for not seeing them back in July. My sis went and they had a blast and said they sound great. But I think they played alot of their hits at that one, because she was amazed at how many songs she knew of theirs. I went to a ton of concerts back then.....even little known bands like Trooper, Loverboy, Prism, Harlequin, Streetheart (they were good).
