Explain to me........

How is this any different than those *warm n' fuzzy* gag-reflex posts at BT where someone mentions stopping dead in their tracks upon hearing a Journey song over the Walmart intercom?

The anser is there is no difference. None.

This forum is in dire need of a holocaust and posters like you need to starve.

Angiekay, ya I know its bad of me to do this...

if your stationed streamlined.. I am there!! ;) I signed up for the three day free trial with sirius..I dont think I could pay for it---just the principle of not giving Howard Stern any more dollars...right now I am listening to Mark Goodman as the DJ.. :) Our radio stations do not steamline here in Des Moines... At least the music ones dont yet. I hear maybe 1st quarter 2007 maybe some of ours radio stations will be streamlined!! So when that happens I am there for them!!

who the hell wants to pay for radio?

Our tax dollars already pay for the "airwaves" that radio uses, so why not utilize them? Satellite TV is one thing, Satellite radio is completely different.

$12.95 a month to listen to music I already have at home, and btw, who the hell CARES about Howard Stern?

That would be more Howard Stern to a tee. Not saying filth and porn are bad, not saying it's good either. People need to stop forcing their views and way of life on everyone else and trying to get them to live how THEY want them to live, instead of letting people live their own lives. If someone wants to waste $12.95 on Sat radio, go for it, it's not gonna happen here in my life though. At least with local radio, it's well, LOCAL! They tell me what's going on where I live, not some other god forsaken city that I give 2 shits about.

The best reason to pay for radio is the stations that play the stuff you DON'T have. There are many stations playing new music not played anywhere else. You also have all the specialized stations. I am a big Blues fan and there is no station here that is devoted to the blues. You have comedy, talk, and sports as well.

Now I do not get sattelite radio and I think the variety offered SHOULD be offered on normal radio...obviously there is a market for it. But I do see the benefits to it...and most of it is commercial free! That alone is worth the subscription price really...

Why is no commercials worth the price? No one makes anyone buy the products that have commercials on regular radio. Commercials are like beer breaks/new music at concerts. Lots of people take those chances for breaks to get a beer or potty break. I understand the idea behind it, I just don't get why people would spend money on it, when it's already available for free.

Maybe I'm just too old school and prefer the days where bands might have gone on mini promo tours when a new "album", you know going around to the radio stations in each town to promote their upcoming concert or record. Now you just have to phone into oine show, or MAYBE show up in the studio for ONE interview to sell what you are promoting. Besides it being more economical, it's just plain lazy.

That's just MY opinion though.

I have XM in my van and the diversity is great!!! There truly is a station for practically ANYTHING you want to hear!! I have 2 teenage boys and 2 younger girls, and so we can listen to rap, rock, country, comedy (clean or nasty), sports, or kid's music at any time. Having the Disney Channel alone on long trips makes it worth the price!!!

BTW...it is not commercial free any more. That sucks, but just like any other radio station, we just change the channel!

Unfortunately for the kids, they don't get to hear it much any more because I've always got Steve Perry or Journey music playing!!!

reasons to maybe get pay radio---remember 25 years ago... The question was---who needs all those TV channels??? .....Well it was decided that we loved having all those extra options and we still dont mind paying the fees for em....I think the vision of the pay radio is the same formula.

yeah well, there's still nothing much worth watchng on cable or satellite tv. Even with hundreds of channels available. Sure you have a variety to choose from, but it's a huge variety of crap.

All you cheap fuckers have NO idea of what you are missing.

I have 500 channels...every sport team, every sport leaugue except MLB, ANY music I want, commercial free, every political station i could ever want, every TV channel on radio, and yes, Howard.

Angie, I am sorry, but terrestrial radio is on life support. Satellite blows away free radio.
