Yikes a little off-topic there - LOL

Back to topic:

Van Halen
r.e.m.
Ronettes
Chic
Dave Clark Five
Grandmaster Flash
Joe Tex
Patti Smith
The Stooges

I hope Van Halen makes it IN this time, that should open the doors for some for some of the arena bands in the next few years! Hopefully!!! The others, well, I just don't get it!

I believe the topic at hand Laurie is HOTS colossal sized snatch.

We should all get a pool together and guess how many flies and/or maggots reside in that super cave.

My guess is the over/under is set at 4.3 billion. I'll take the over.

ROH... DC5 yes... VH maybe...

But KISS not being it from the first year of the RORHF has made this a JOKE beyond belief... THE BAND OF THE YEAR IN 1977 and not in??? WTF..

Also should be in... STYX/REO (Hi Infidelity alone) Kansas and our beloved Journey....but unless you did drugs, or kissed ass to rolling stone magazine or worse payola.... --I dont think the RORHF cares much.. also where is Alice Cooper??? Are the Doobies in yet??? IF not they should be...

Completely agreed with this, BUT I would not be surprised if the tape fiasco did not have a heavy hand against them either.

Van Halen should've been inducted into the RNR Hall of Fame when they were eligible in 2003. This is the perfect opportunity for the boys in VH to reunite with David Lee Roth and do a kick ass tour next year.

IMO it's the "Corporate Rock", "Radio Friendly", "Airwave Saturation" stigmas that were put on Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Reo Speedwagon, etc, that have kept them from getting the recognition they deserve. I don't think it helped that Journey, Styx and Foreigner lost the frontmen that their sounds became associated with and have had no industry recogized success since replacing them. I also think "Tapegate" and the switch to yet another frontman under questionable circumstances has even further hurt Journey's credability. Their chances of making it probably would have been much better if they'd quit when they lost those frontmen. However, as fans I guess we have to ask ourselves what we'd rather have. The bands as they exist today, or memories of what they were and their names in the HOF.

I hope the inclusion of VH in this line up will help open the door for the stadium rock genre. It would certainly help if Journey were to reunite with Perry, but that's just not going to happen. If there had ever been even a glimmer of a chance I think the lip synching allegations totally smothered it. If they can reestablish their credibility now that Jeff is on board we may still have hope for some future consideration.

I do agree that journey should be in there hell it should have been done a long time ago. And i know that deep down you are a good man. You know Steve, said it best life is life can we just let the past go and bring on a new day?

Give me a fucking break? Why can't we just tell it like it is? Perry was an asshole to be sure. The 9 years or so produced amazing music and astonishing numbers, but Jesus Christ, those years took other years off Neal's and Friga's lives, and I am sure Perry's too. Perry was hard to get along with at best, BUT......if they could get through those years, he (Perry), should have stayed a few more. It's not like he was being enslaved in a truck drivers' job, a meat packing plant, a bartender job or even fucking around on MR while pretending to work in a cubicle, which half of the people do here. Yeah, tons of coke, tons of smoke, hot chicks, fat wallets, whatever...Such a terrible lifestyle.

The RnR HOF committee has never liked Perry, period. A lot of journalists didn't like Perry. I am willing to bet he is the main reason, along with Open Arms, that Journey is despised in music writers' minds. I say fuck em, but the truth is they hold the keys to Cleveland.

"Why can't we just tell it like it is?"

The answer to that question is because you ONLY see what you want to see. You've not walked in Perry's shoes. Although I bet you wished you could have, but even the 'life style" of a famous rock band must have it's down falls as well, it can't be ALL glorious as the way you percieve it to be.

Think about it Deano, year after year of touring with no real time off, always on the road, spending long hours on a bus, then off to lonely hotels, hanging with the same guys day after day, having no time to spend with family & friends, No time for personal enjoyment, like go see a movie etc... those are the things that COULD have made the "life style" of a rock band NOT so great.

As for blaming Perry again, the band CHOSE to go their own way WITHOUT Perry, so that falls back on them, NOT Perry!!! :(

Because he's the one who didn't come to the party. You know how it is when a core group of friends gets together and one can't make it. The one who's not there is the one who gets talked about. Well, Steve's the one not in the band, so everything must be his fault. Just my theory.
