Larry, man, when we went to Paul Stanley we tried to smuggle the cameras in, but the security was pretty good there, they searched our bags with sticks and flashlights, and when the guy found my camera he wouldn't let me it, I had to go and check it  He was even using metal detectors. That was the first time that happened. Gonna have to think of a better hiding spot

ladies, just buy one of these and you can sneak in booze and cameras

For fucks sake Fred, I'm being sarcastic

Oh, stoopid me! Geez, why didn't I realize that when I read your post that out of three choices, I should have KNOWN that you were being sarcastic instead of kidding or being serious?! What WAS I thinking? I mean, gosh Batman, I couldn't HEAR a tone in your voice since I was simply reading words on a page, but dangit Gomer, I guess I still shoulda know where you wuz comin' from, huh?

That - as I've said before numerous times - JOURNEY PUTS OUT NEW MUSIC AND SINGS IT IN CONCERT AND STOPS CATERING TO THE CLASSIC TUNES PEOPLE!!!

The exclamation points were added for emphasis, not as a sign that I'm angry. :D

Sooo, why don't you give that a chance to happen with JSS?

Well, gee Eric, uh, I believe I've said I'm more than willing to give good ol' Jeffy a chance with Journey. Yes, in fact, I KNOW I've said it and I've meant it. I will STILL give that ol' cuss a HUGE chance with Journey to put out new music and to actually play some of it in concert.

Will there be a new CD? I doubt it.

Will they play new music? I doubt it.

Pretty self-explanatory, but dangit, maybe it's not getting through because I'm not using the Deano Filter on my responses! Yeah, that must be it.

Then again, when I try to respond to people, I have certain individuals who lack the necessary brain matter getting off on tangents and into a discussion about "intelligence" instead of staying on point.

Oh, but wait, Andrew said we should "take the high road and others will follow!" Uh...nope. That doesn't happen. You're wrong Andrew.

Here's the thing though, Andy, if there were only posters like Deano and his 15 followers around, then there would be NO problem on this board at all. There would be no arguments, no complaints to you at all because the only people that would be here are those that open there mouth wide while Deano has a BM. They love it and can't get enough of it. Something worth considering...

Fred, that's plain out rude. Andrew is kind enough to let us hang here on this forum. U know what, he could take it down tomorrow if he wanted.

As for Dean, I don't agree w/everything he says. I don't think anyone would call me "his follower". (In fact one person said I try to be a female version of him! Whatever!) But Dean is funny. Even when he says sick things he's funny about it. & I laugh my ass off at him. Ur not funny. & tho u may not swear, what u said above is just as rude & sick as anything Dean ever said on this forum. If u added in a coupla f-bombs, it would be no different at all. Take a look in the mirror. Are u really any better than Dean?

Neal and Jon revived Journey and would've toured with or without Augeri.
Augeri is deserved props for taking on a thankless task and for being great w/ the fans.

Geez Fred, you're not negative in the least, pessimist appears to be a better fit. In my previous post I asked you why you participate in a forum for a band that is clearly moving forward while you seem to long for the past. I did not make a general statement whatsoever regarding you being a negative nellie in life, just that "negativity is ugly." You come off as a negative person as your harbor such feelings, but that is your choice. You chose to insult me and bring Dean into it rather than answer my question. No biggie, I was just trying to understand why people that are not enjoying something (Journey) choose to participate in discussions/forums about it.

Your comments above are nothing but rude and disrespectful towards Journey and Andrew.

This is a funny statement, no one revived anything what he did do was try to immitate Perry and that worked against him. If he had put his own voice style, heart and soul then he would have revived the music but copying what someone else has done already is not in the least reviving anything! :D

Credit you say and for what? Maybe for huging the 5* fans signing an autograph and being nice to them, but then again I would be nice too if that's what it took to live out a dream of karaoke. Perhaps we should thank him for the tape gate, you think? And the fact that will also count against Journey ever making it into the RNRHOF. Gee, thanks so much!

U know, even tho I never cared for Augie, I have to wonder if he had a choice about putting his own style on things. I think he just did what was expected of him, & at the time, the band wanted to sound as much like Perry as they could.

No, it's not rude. It's my experience here. I don't care if Andrew takes it down or leaves it up. Life goes on...

As for Dean, I don't agree w/everything he says. I don't think anyone would call me "his follower". (In fact one person said I try to be a female version of him! Whatever!) But Dean is funny. Even when he says sick things he's funny about it. & I laugh my ass off at him.[q/uote]

I'm not trying to be funny. If you think what I said above was "rude and sick" then you have a huge problem and it isn't me, but rather your perceptions.

I have never said I was better than anyone here. It cracks me up when someone has nothing of substance to say, they attempt to turn it back on someone else. If you THINK I'm stating or implying that I'm better than anyone here, then you're very wrong.

The only thing I've been trying to encourage is that people "take the high road," but I realize that's an impossibility for some.

Lula, I'm not even sure how you GOT in this discussion, but your comments are not welcome.

I responded to your question by pointing out how ludicrous it was to label me negative when you are hooked up with the beacon for negativity.

You accuse me of living in the past, but that's only because you do not understand where I'm coming from. As I have said on many, many occasions, I do NOT want nor expect Perry to return to Journey. What I would like is for Journey to put out a new CD and play a good portion of it in concert. I do NOT think that will happen, but I would like Journey to prove me wrong.

If I'm not as excited about Journey as I used to be, that in and of itself is no reason for me to leave this forum...unless of course all you want around here are people who tow Dean's party line. Sounds like it because EVERYONE who holds any other opinion is roundly cussed at, ridiculed and enveloped with sewer-related remarks. THAT is not the way to debate someone...unless a person's intelligence (or lack thereof) precludes that ability.

Now, do yourself and me a favor and stop responding to posts that are not directed to you, all right?

Well, if you post on a public forum, the anyone is welcome to comment as they wish. Not much you can do about that.

As I have said on many, many occasions, I do NOT want nor expect Perry to return to Journey. What I would like is for Journey to put out a new CD and play a good portion of it in concert. I do NOT think that will happen, but I would like Journey to prove me wrong.

I fully expect them to put out a new album, perhaps next year, but I don't expect they will be playing much of it in concert unless, for some unforeseen miracle, they manage to get some substantial airplay of any new material. I don't see that happening, so I expect we'll get another tour with perhaps one or two new songs and then the standard dirty dozen.

If I'm not as excited about Journey as I used to be, that in and of itself is no reason for me to leave this forum...unless of course all you want around here are people who tow Dean's party line. There are several here who resort to the name-calling and gut level humor when debating and, for me, it only shows a lack of any real substance or intelligence, so I'll agree with you on that point.

I'm sorry Fred, I was unaware that you were the welcome committee for comments.

Again, all I did was ask a question, which you did not answer. You've decided to make this about Dean... whatever. You have no clue about who I am or who Dean is for that matter. You are clearly set in your thoughts about Dean, debate, and what constitutes filth. I might start thinking you are unable to appreciate an opinion different than your own. You are obviously free to have your thoughts on Journey's future, I happen to look at it as positive and promising, not bleak and dreary.

As far as participating in discussions here, I will do as I choose. You responded to me with insults rather than an answer to a sincere question. Try practicing what it is you are preaching

Fred,

As I mentioned before, you and I are now on completely different sides of the fence on our opinions about Journey. In my opinion, if Journey performs two or three "new songs" in a normal concert set, I think that is enough to give the fans a taste. I do not want to see the ticket sales for their concerts decline simply because they are going to make some "stand" and make half their set new music. Right now this band only survives as a touring act. Playing a half set of new music would kill ticket sales at this point in time. Just a fact of the times. Now if they could ever get airplay of their new material, well then that would be a whole different scenario

Couple of points and a little rambling:

Just because you post using a quality vocabulary and no swearing does not mean that you don't come off as rude or pompous. And this doesn't mean I excuse the manner in which Deano, TNC, or others post.

I think most of us do understand your point about them playing new music live. However, in this forum, I think that is a minority view. It is fine to post your opinion, I just don't think you have to post that view over and over again. Sometimes less is more kind of thing. My opinion only.

I do not understand how you still call yourself a fan of Journey "now". I can see you "were" a fan of Journey "then". You say the new lineup doesn't not excite you. Than as the question which was asked earlier, why do you spend so much time here trying to make a point that is obviously a minority opinion around here right now, particularly about a band that you are not "excited" about. Maybe I should not equate excitement, love, appreciation, anticipation, as part of being a fan. But if not, what would you define as being a fan of Journey?

Lastly, and way off topic, just a curiosity. Did you/or are you not currently playing in a "covers" rock band. Do you / did you get tired of playing the same covers show after show? Did your band perform your own material, and if so how was it received by the casual fan (not friends) :?:

Great.

Just because you post using a quality vocabulary and no swearing does not mean that you don't come off as rude or pompous. And this doesn't mean I excuse the manner in which Deano, TNC, or others post.

And THAT is probably WHY I'm seen as pompous because I try to avoid using off color language. The other reason is because I tend to OVER explain myself to avoid being misunderstood. That obviously does not work, but it's difficult to write less and still get my points across.

I think most of us do understand your point about them playing new music live. However, in this forum, I think that is a minority view. It is fine to post your opinion, I just don't think you have to post that view over and over again. Sometimes less is more kind of thing. My opinion only.

Dan, do you realize how many times OTHER people post THEIR view over and over and over again?

I do not understand how you still call yourself a fan of Journey "now". I can see you "were" a fan of Journey "then". You say the new lineup doesn't not excite you. Dan, why are you asking me these questions? Why does it matter to you? So, it sounds like what you are saying is that anyone who is not a fan of NOW Journey should not really be here. Is that correct?

Lastly, and way off topic, just a curiosity. Did you/or are you not currently playing in a "covers" rock band. Do you / did you get tired of playing the same covers show after show? Did your band perform your own material, and if so how was it received by the casual fan (not friends) :?:

Dan, why are you asking me these questions? Why does it matter to you? So, it sounds like what you are saying is that anyone who is not a fan of NOW Journey should not really be here. Is that correct?

Lastly, and way off topic, just a curiosity. Did you/or are you not currently playing in a "covers" rock band. Do you / did you get tired of playing the same covers show after show? Did your band perform your own material, and if so how was it received by the casual fan (not friends) :?:

Yes, yes, yes - not bad at all.

Firstly, I do know that others post their opinion over and over and over again. That is why I tried to get the "less is more" point across to you. Sometimes, people (myself included) get sick and tired of reading the same opinion over and over in thread after thread. We get your point of veiw, it doesn't have to be stated multiple times in every thread. If some one does not get your point after a couple of explanations, they are not going to, and are basically just trying to get your ire up. I have been on this site for at least 4yrs, I do not have a high post count, basically because I try to get into a thread post my point of view, and get out. Have there been exceptions for me, yes, but I try to keep them limited. There is no changing anyone's mind on this board thru quality debate or bitter profanity. It is hard to resist the urge I know, but IMO it seems best to post your opinion, maybe answer one or two other posts, and then get the hell out. I am not trying to stifle anyones freedom of speech here by these comments, just my opinion how this place seems to work for me.

Secondly, I am not saying that people who are not fans of "now" Journey should not be allowed to post. I am asking why there is an intrest to post and post so vehemently about a subject that you admitedly have little concern about. If I was a Perry only fan, I would not be frequenting this board and posting here. I would have no vested intrest because Perry is not in the band anymore. I still to this day, after being here for 4yrs or so, don't understand why the Perry only fans like to come here and rain on the parade of fans of the current Journey. Are they Knights of the Perry roundtable who must defend Perry's honor at every slight made his way? I do not go to Perryville and defend Cain or Schon's honor at every turn? In fact I have never been to that site because I have no vested interest in what is said there. When there was a Perry board here, I never viewed it.

Ok off my soap box and done with this thread.

Perry-fans not sold on Augeri and whom wish to tread carefully frequently fall back on this as their go-to response.
However, it's bunk.
The live Tyketto recordings out there are ear splittingly bad.
Augeri is what he is.
Take it or leave it, folks.
I am in no way trying to take away from Augeri's voice, but I dont have ONE live clip that comes close to Perry or JSS. If you have them, please share!!!
Dont make me stick my pitchfork up your ass!

A couple of points, SF.

Perry played a massive role in the band for many years. It's totally understandable and right that there are still discussions about him and Journey's history overall.

It's inevitable that there will be a contingent of 'classic Journey' fans who feel the band deserves criticism for the decisions they've made in recent years. And what's wrong with that? Would you want this site to just play a cheerleading role? Is modern day Journey beyond criticism?

Also - Perry is frequently attacked on this site - often by the same people who keep telling everyone to "move on". Why is it so puzzling that some Journey fans want to defend Perry? Or at the very least to discuss the guy and his role in the band?

And...if you'd been to Perryville you'd know that Kathy doesn't tolerate "bashing" of Schon and Cain.

First, I do not want to stifle all "discussion" of SP or his involvement in Journey. Some of the remarks become a little tiresome. Example: A thread is started about how JSS sang this tune well the other night. Without a doubt multiple people will chime in with Perry did it better. That is great and I bet alot of people would agree (probably including myself), but we are discussing the Journey of today. I don't understand the CONSTANT need to inject Steve Perry into almost every thread. Am I going to change anything or anyones mind or opinion by stating this? I have been around this board long enough to know that will never happen. Some here are just Knights in the Steve Perry round table. And, at least to me it gets annoying at times.

Secondly, some of my comments were directed specifically towards Fred. As of late, he has been very adamant about his lack of interest in current Journey and any anticipation of new music from the band. I still do not understand his (and some others here) NEED to post on a topic (Journey) that he acknowleges he has no further interest in. I mean it either still interests you or it doesn't, no shades of gray there.

As far as Perryville, I have no desire to go there. I do know that comments were made on this board a while back saying that such actions (trashing Neal and Jon) were taking place there. Whether that info is correct or not, I do not know. I do not mind, or have a problem with, discussing Steve Perry here. As you said he was a major part of this band, and an incredible vocal talent. However, it is the comparison things and the Perry is infalable posters here that annoy. When people are discussing JSS as the new vocalist and you have Froy come into every thread with "this guy (SP) did it better", and the only vocalist they should have is Perry crap, it gets old. Like I said, say your peace and move on. Don't jump in every thread and post the same view over and over again. As somebody said here or in another thread, there are lines and people can't seem to stay with in them. It is for there own twisted pleasure that some like to post things that they know will cause dissent on the board.

Matthew, you and I have had very civil discussions and I think I know your point of view and you know mine. I have no problem with what you discuss or how you present your opinions. You basically get your opinion across and then maybe a view follow up comments to back your opinion. That is good debate. As opposed to what I described in the paragraph above.

Cheers
