Auction/Cure Autism

Looks like the boys are at it again. Arlen Ness, Journey and D.L. are offering a custom bike through auction with proceeds going to the Cure Autism Now Foundation. I know there are a few parents of children with autism that post here. This is a wonderful effort put forth by all involved. Now to find the money to bid ;).

Here is what Neal had to say- 8)
"The custom Journey/Def Leppard bike that Arlen Ness Motorcycles created is one bad-ass, wicked-mean bike with all the frills and best parts that money can buy. A lucky fan will own this bad boy in just a few weeks. Best of all, the money is going to Cure Autism Now," said Neal Schon of Journey.

As one of those parents, I thank you for posting this, Lula.

Very cool. I take care of autistic children from time to time & have a much younger cousin who is autistic also. It's always good to see support out there.

If the winner decides to sell it, they may be out of luck. The bidding on the Journey bike on Ebay is at 22 grand, and the reserve still is not met.

I have to admit, I wouldn't pay much for the motorcycle either, and I am an avid motorcyclist. I would really be embarased to ride it. First thing I would do would be to paint the thing, leaving MAYBE the Captured or Escape picture on there.

Then, paint over Augeri's name and try to get Perry to sign it

Just found this info in my email today from the CAN newsletter...what a great thing for Journey/DL/VH1/Arlen Ness to do! :D

I'm one of those parents, too...it is very rough. I have a 5 1/2 yr. old Autistic girl - adopted at 11 mos. from a Russian orphanage - diagnosed at 2 yr. - she is non-verbal & still has to wear diapers & a makeshift zipper-in-the-back "uniform" 'cuz she likes to uh, smear feces all over...I wouldn't wish this on anyone! :(
A very worthy cause.

Thank you for drawing attention to this....

My cousin's son is Autistic....on the very "high" level.

It wasn't until he was 6 years old that he gave my Cousin a hug and kiss.... :(

GOD that's so sad....

Thanks for posting this Lula. I don't personally know anyone with autism or an autistic child. Anytime there is an auction for a worthy cause - I'm there. However, this one is kind of out of my budget.

God bless you parents who care for these children every day.

Don't get me wrong... I think it is GREAT that they are doing this. My brother's son has Autism. I just think the next bike needs to be a little more understated in the Journey/Def Leppard theme.

I just don't want anyone to think my remarks toward to the cheesy paint job on the first bike had ANYTHING to do with the REASONS for the bikes.

Thanks for listening.

Nice that they want to cure autism. I have Aspergers and my brother is severely autistic so it's been in my life since the word go.

I've had some really bad times cos of my Aspergers but now I wouldn't be without it cos I know I wouldn't be me without it. On the other hand, I wouldn't wish any of my kids the same hassle I had from other people so I say good stuff.
