Postby Clasicrockldy » Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:35 pm

I am watching the last hour of VH1 100 Greatest Songs of the 80's........... and listening to what some of the people say about this song............. one guy had me laughing so hard...............

I am paraphrasing here, but one dude said some like "This song is like a sweeping orgasm of a song !"

Any comment for those who watched the show?

I spit out my coke when he said that!

Where do they get these "commentators"??????

I wish I knew where they get their commentators. At least some of them were relevant to the decade. :D

I was happy that Deb Gibson gave major credit to Perry's voice.

The story then went to "A Perryless Journey is on tour...."

I LOVE Soto, but Journey will always be about Perry's voice - Except to the small minority here and on other internet sites.

Please don't hate me for saying that - I am VERY excited about what Journey is doing with Soto!!!!!!

As a Perryonly fan, I was happy that it zeroed in, for the most part, on Steve Perry, as well it should have, imo. 8)

Yeah, it was mostly a "where are they now" show. The rest of the band is still active.

Right! Touring with the Steve Perry tribute band, and having Perry produce to make them spending money, after taxes.

The dressup in the make shift Perry costume was a nice tribute touch.

Sallee asked for thoughts on it. I gave my genuine opinion on it. You, on the other hand, had to make a snide remark about Perry.

No, I didn't. You said your opinion was that it was focusing on Perry, which it should have.

I agreed with you because it's an 80's show, and it focused a great deal on artists from the 80's who people wonder what ever happened to. IMO, which I have a right to, it focused on Perry b/c people are wondering whatever happened to him. How is that snide? The band is on a very profitable and successful tour with Def Leppard. No one is wondering about them. I know you don't agree. No biggie.

Yeah, my comment is that I agree with the sweeping orgasm comment. LOL!

Although, "Why Can't This Night..." is waaaay more of a sweeping orgasm song for ME, but.... haha, that's just me.

No really I though they had great things to say about the song and about Steve's voice, and it's cool to hear people appreciating it that way. And # 11 out of 100 isn't bad, either!

They'll probably repeat it. If so, it’s almost at the halfway point of the last show. All positive remarks, though there was some good-natured, all-too-true ribbing (perfect karaoke fodder, or something), and I noticed not a lot of comments from musicians, lol.

The sweeping orgasm of a song comment was the best.

They showed the Augeri-led lineup while talking about how Journey was touring again, sans Perry.

The next time they run this, I expect JSS to be one of the interviewees for the show! He would be great at that.

I didn’t agree with a lot of the top ten, but it is all about fans votes, so…
Next time we’ll have to call more.

(Walk this Way has to be one of the best videos ever, though!! Brilliant collaboration)

Yes it did, it focussed on the vocals :D That said, they wasted no time stating that Journey tours Perry less :D As far as Steve Perry is concerned they said he is still active as a producer 8) Still happy DSB made it to #11

This is laughable, those were great tunes but Journey should have been at the # 1 spot :?

Eric wrote: Yeah, I don't like how some of the "commentators" just rip on the song.....its like their big comedy minute.

At the very least they should get a comedian from that time, the only one with any credibility was Debbie Gibson and the Orgasm guy :D

They didn't mention neither Agueri nor Soto, they did however show a pic of Agueri/Journey but that's about it. :D
