OT: Vote?

Postby Blueskies » Wed Nov 08, 2006 6:30 am

Did you vote today? Re-guardless of who you vote for.... do you think you have a responsibility to vote? Or do you not take the responsibility and leave it to other's to decide? ( USA people)

Hell yes, I voted! Always do. I think it's the duty of all citizens of the USA to cast their ballots. No excuses.

But...I sure am sick of hearing all the political ads.

It's not just a right, it's a privilage to be able to vote, so I registered on the day I turned 18. There was NO way I was gonna miss out on voting for the President and other important issues in my first Autumn after registering.

I voted this morning and was happy to see a good turn out. The way I've always been told, is you have NO right to really bitch about someone, unless you vote. Maybe that's wrong thinking, but it's good thinking for me personally. While I HATE all the attack ads, I REALLY hate the fact that The Prez for instance uses tax dollars to travel about, stumping votes for candidates. Republican or Democrtating Presidents. That's a HUGE waste of our monies.

People have to vote for the person they least hate, rather than the person they most like sometimes, with all the attack ads. Can't they just tell us (like someone already said) what they stand for, rather than attacking each other and their families? Are attacks supposed to get us to vote FOR the person doing the ad? Or are they supposed to get us to vote against the person doing the ads? I don't vote straight party like some do and I never tell people how I voted, when they ask me. It's no one's business but mine.

Sure did! Was at my polling place when it opened...at 6 a.m. Of course I did my research ahead of time, which I think all Americans should do. I believe if somebody's going into the booth to just pull a random lever out of anger, they might as well stay home.

Also heard that several states were having difficulty with new electronic voting machines. Already some are calling for their polling places to stay open two extra hours.

I did not vote yet and I'm trying to decide if I will. Do I have a responsibility to vote? No, I have the privilege of voting and most of the time, the choices simply don't make me jump up for joy.

You'd probably get more honesty. Whether it's dems or repubs, they're ALL professional politicians (liars).
