For that alone his exit is warranted.

I have never claimed to be a source for anything. My motives? Please tell me what you mean.

Playing coy...?

Your motives? It appears to me that your interaction here is founded upon how you can use/exploit JOURNEY for your own gain or benefit.

Now that is funny. For the record, my interaction here is for discussion and entertainment. "Exploit Journey" what the hell are you talking about? What I gain from Journey is pleasure. I am entertained when I attend a live show and enjoy the vast catalogue immensely. Careful making such claims, you are way off base here. I would like to hear how you think I am "exploiting Journey" for personal gain or benefit, do tell.

I don't have a collection of your posts. It's merely an observation I've gathered along the way.

Telling me I'm off base again. I recall you telling me the same thing regarding my own son! You made that comment based off a SINGLE post with absolutely ZERO knowledge of me or my son and our relationship. In this instance I'm making my observations based off countless numbers of your posts. So who is more off base?

If you want to claim that my observation is off base - despite the fact that you claim that you don't know what I'm talking about - then that's fine. It doesn't change the content of your posts and how you've presented yourself.

Not meaning to really nit pick here but JSS is the 5th singer in Journey's History:

Perry
Augeri

Bullshit.
This lead singer transplant has restored Journey, not watered them down.
Now there is a band out there that both fans and all bandmembers alike are proud to take part in.

Can you see Steve Perry on stage with Steve Augeri and JSS? Should SA be excluded, even though he contributed 8 years of time, and is featured on 2 CDs and one EP with the band.
Should JSS be excluded from the honors? What has been his contribution to the band, other than this tour?? I know this is a stretch, since for some unexplained reasons, Journey has always been ignored by the HOF committee.

Like I said, I'm bored. Not trying to start any brawls here, just some consversations.

Then you obviously have not been on this site very long.
Steve Perry got ritually keelhauled naked over a bed of barbed wire by the regulars daily.

Why should Augeri be granted immunity from the same FUCK-decorum approach that everyone else (Neal, Jon, Ross, Perry etc) continues to recieve?

He stepped into some shoes that were pretty much impossible to step into,

And he got paid handsomely for it, too.

brought many new younger fans into the Journey camp, worked his ASS off for eight years and put his heart and soul into this band, it's music and it's fans.

So did Neal, Jon, and everyone else.
This doesn't prevent me from pointing out that Neal Schon has big sweaty man titties, nor should it.

I think he deserves a lot more respect and appreciation than he has received on this site (though I know full-well that this post will get trashed as anything positive about Augeri posted here does).

You want it to be so simplistically "black and white" don't you?
How about many of us are pissed off at Augeri while still remaining a modicum of respect or admiration for the man?
How about people here are totally within their rights not to like Steve Augeri at all?

I think the "classic" lineup AND Gregg would likely get the nod. Maybe throw in Aynsley and George. But I doubt anyone after that would get inducted as Journey. However, I think JSS would sing because I don't see Perry doing it...(hope I am wrong-and it is quite possible because Perry is supposedly able to think about the fans and put there feelings over his own to some extent).

Too bad for you then.
People can't censor everything they say on the rare chance someone will be offended by it.

How often is the word "homo" invoked around these parts?
Do you realize I have a family member who is gay?
Does that mean I should systematically patrol this forum and tell people what's acceptable and what's not?
-Of course not.

Simply put, homos and those with metal-afflictions are both comedy gold.
And that's coming from someone who has one of both in his family.

Hell, TNC might even BE both!! ;)

He's right here though that it is difficult to refrain from a descriptive joke on the chance there could possibly be a person who might know someone who could be affected by the subject of the joke....

When a band is inducted they are invited. When Santana was inducted Schon was not there, but Rolie was. When Journey gets inducted my guess is it will be the line up from the 70s 80s era, the body of work that represents so much of their influence in music, just my opinion of course.

If I'm interpreting the rules correctly, Augeri is not eligible. The RRHOF rule states "25 years after the release of the first record".

Augeri did not record until 2001. In fact, Jon Cain only became eligible this year since he didn't record with them until 1981. For example...not all members of Skynard were inducted last year because it hasn't been 25 years yet.

I'm sure they would all be invited, but they can't all be inducted.

Nor should they all be inducted. This notion that Augeri should be recognized if Journey were to ever be inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF (which by the way, won't happen...There are no bands like Journey who have ever been recognized!) is beyond ludicrous. Listen...I have no issue with Augeri. From all reports, he's a nice enough dude. That said, if (and again, it's a VERY BIG IF) Journey were to get inducted, they would be inducted for their Perry era material, period, end of story! They wouldn't be getting into the HOF for Arrival (which I thought was great), Red13 (sucked), or Generations (sucked more).

At the end of the day, you can throw out any and every name of every guy who has ever been in Journey. That won't change the fact that if Journey were to ever have this honor bestowed upon them, they will be recognized for their classic lineup, not Steve Augeri. When the final chapter of the Journey book is closed, Augeri will be nothing more than a footnote in Journey history. Honestly, even if the "tapegate" episode never saw the light of day, I would still feel the same way. I just can't imagine that Augeri would even want to be recognized for an accomplishment that he had nothing to do with!

Oh, you have a son with disabilities, don't you. I remember reading a post that came off as a downer about your son. I don't give a rat's ass what you think about my presentation of self. I am still curious though about how it is you see me exploiting Journey for my own gain or benefit. Please, enlighten me.

No. I have a son. He's only disabled to those with deluded vision.

Okay then. The only way I knew about your son was from your own posts- you said he had a disability. How else would I have known?

I see you have chosen to keep your thoughts that I am exploiting Journey for my own benefit or gain to just an accusation with nothing to back it up. Whatever.... you give me way too much credit.

I mentioned that he was autistic - not that he had a disability. And my mentioning of it was in response to certain people using the word "retard" in the same manner that it's being used in this thread.

The irony! The wheel just keeps spinning around.

As I said regarding the other topic: it's something I've gathered from your posts on this forum. You say it isn't true and that your motives are purely as a fan. So be it. That doesn't change what I've gathered. Neither will my pointing to anything support my observation. You'll simply argue that I've misunderstood or that I'm deluded, etc. So there's really no point in discussing it.

I've made my observation and you've said that your motives are otherwise. I don't see the value in dragging anything out.

Bitter that JSS didn't have a better opportunity to show the world his talent. He should be up on the grammy stage by now accepting an award for best new vocal performance fronting for his own band. Singing his own work. NO matter how much some of you think this will happen for him as a part of Journey in the future, we will never see that.

Right now, he is exposing the world to his talent on the coattails of Journey success, singing Journey songs. Problem is the rest of the non-melodicrock world (aka the other 99.999999999999999999999999%) doesn't know "JEFF SCOTT SOTO", if they know him, they know him as Journey's current lead singer, # 3 or 4 or 5 or something like that.

I think he deserves to be his own star and is his own star. But instead, he is currently caught in this ugly stream of Journey B.S. that is still so prevalent that "people" (as Lula so compassionately referred to us) fight over who signed wine bottles for a children's charity.

I don't care what you call me, call me any ugly name you want, but I think JSS deserved better than to be a part of this whole disgusting vile Journey year.

Would this be the same vile year in which Journey are enjoying a MASSIVE tour and the guys are having a total blast and JSS thinks he is in heaven doing this?

Dean looked over my shoulder and just started laughing out loud at this thread.

I really can't blame him for not having the desire to post here.

Two things:

If he didn't have the desire to post here, he wouldn't be looking over your shoulder. Well, unless you missed a button.

He DOES still post here. So, what are you going on about?

Monker, Monker, Monker...... you are correct, Dean is back on the board and it seems many people are very happy about that. You really don't know why Dean was looking over my shoulder when I posted this or ever for that matter.

And telling someone their full of S***, or to stuff objects into a bodily orifice and/or any other nasty comeback because you disagree with a post pretty much negates anything else you have previously debated. There have been some great debates and extremely heated arguments on here...but as soon as you throw trash...the debate/conversation ends. I bet a therapist would have a hay day on here! :D

In a nut shell, that is basically what Monker, Fyre, 28, Fred and several others have been trying to point out for weeks. I believe someone said it quite well - Journey is here to entertain us. Period.

Yep...that is EXACTLY it...and when it is done CONSTANTLY, it brings the entire forum down. And, when the OWNER of the forum does nothing but slap a wrist every few months - it will NOT stop.

And, I had a great post written up last night about this and some other things and it didn't get posted for whatever reason. Hopefully I can spend some time tonight to rewrite it and ensure it gets posted this time.
