New SP Q&A on Fan Asylum

Postby Lora » Sat Nov 11, 2006 7:45 am

I am posting this on several fan forums but feel free to share this info: Fan Asylum will be hosting another Steve Perry Q&A session. Early next week we will activate an email address where questions can be submitted for approximately two days. We will post the email address on the Fan Asylum site as soon as it is activated. I'm estimating that the email address will be activated on Tuesday, but that is not set in stone. I'll let everyone know when the email address goes live. As before, Steve's responses to questions will be posted on the Fan Asylum site - he will not be replying directly to emails.

I have been getting bunches of emails over the past month and have seen lots of questions on the various fan forums regarding the Journey & Steve Perry reissued catalog. There has been a lot of excitement but some confusion around this, so here's the chance to ask your questions. Anyone interested should be thinking of your questions to submit next week as the window to submit questions will only be two days.

Good question. I don't know how many questions there are to ask about the reissues. Maybe about the new songs that are on them. Or about the feelings some have that there are new(or changed) vocals on them. I would really like to ask if he's really working on some new material.

I'd like to see Perry sit down and do a REAL interview...not one he can control with pre-selected questions (and answers).

Ok, I'm gonna be honest here. I appreciate him taking the time to answer any questions anybody has about the reissues. It's certainly more than any of the REST of Journey has done lately.
What I really want is for ALL of them to get off their collective asses and write something new that's worth spinning in my CD player. As a long time fan of all of these guys, I don't want to hear any more dirty dozen, or reissues, or rereleases, or whatever they want to call them. I liked getting the more obsure stuff that was included, but now it's time for all you Journey and ex-Journey dudes to show the fans you've still got some creativity and life left in you. Sorry if this comes off as kinda pissy, but damn this is frustrating!
My only questions for Steve Perry at this point are...WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, DUDE and WHY NOT THROW CAUTION TO THE WIND AND RECORD SOMETHING NEW? The talent you have is something other people only dream about. Quit second guessing yourself and just DO IT!!

God, I feel better now 8), but I've probably pissed off Lora, Steve and a few others probably on this board.

This actually makes my heart sink, to be honest. There's nothing here to suggest that Perry will be releasing any new material or even classic DVDs in the near future.

It seems that he's just promoting the second wave of reissues - and that this is all he'll be doing in the Uncle Joe Benson interview too.

Hope I'm wrong...

But if Perry doesn't either definitively announce his comeback or his retirement - and gives the same old enigmatic answers to the same old questions - then even die-hard Loons are going to finally get pissed off with the guy. Well, I will anyway....

Yeah, that too Matt. It's not that I don't appreciate the Q&A. I'll participate and anxiously await the answers he gives. I'll always love the music he's given us and think he's the greatest voice of all time. The problem is that we want something of substance. We would like some definitive information about what he intends to do. We are fans of Steve Perry.
