As you can probably tell by my screen name, I'm a loon. I have posted on here a few times about my desire to see SP and Journey reunite. And I would still LOVE to see that. But...Jeff Scott Soto is unbelievable!!!! Baby, you had me at "Stone in Love"!!!! I looked across the aisle at Lula and thought "HOLY SHIT"!!!! Not only were the vocals incredible, but the boy can MOVE!!!!!

The concert far exceeded my expectations, as well as those of my husband, my son, and his friend Kevin (who actually saw Journey at Bristow this year). Of course, meeting him and Ross at Ed & Lori's was just incredible! Ross was hilarious both at Ed's house and during the concert!!! I love his comedic performances (and ya'll say SP can't dance!!!
PU-LEEZE!!!) The only thing that was missing, IMO, was Deen's version of "Mother, Father".

Thanks Journey for keeping the magic alive. I'm not giving up on Perry though. And although I don't remember some things (NIG!!! ) I do remember several of you guys telling me I wasn't the only loon in the looney bin Thursday night!!!

I want to thank all my new friends for making it so great!!!!

Now, Jeff...take your "fucking 2 weeks off" and then make some plans to get into the studio with the boys!!!

GREAT post, Donna. I think JSS brings the same excitement and showmanship that SP did, all while still being his own man. That's why I think even the Loons are excited about Journey again.

HOTS doesn't.
She is infatuated with Deen because he sounds like Steve Perry, yet wants to stomp on Augeri and Soto's innards because they sound like Steve Perry.
Got that?

The man exudes sex appeal like no one I've seen for a looong while. I think I read somewhere that Prince was one of his influences. It shows...

Travis & were discussing his performance today on the drive back from Baltimore. We agree that he has definitely got the looks and the moves to appeal to a younger audience. They need to get him some exposure!!! Maybe a video of some of the concert footage (I wouldn't want to see a 'remake' of an old Journey video, but maybe one of the songs that didn't have a video...was there a video for 'Stone in Love', other than what's on the '81 Houston video?). I don't know if they could legally do it, but that would perhaps get the attention of the people who were familiar with Journey, putting a new spin on the songs, just before introducing new material. The best of both worlds as I see it.

Now, before anyone says it, I realize that what I'm suggesting goes against us die-hard Perry fans. But I gotta tell ya, he truly does a great job honoring the music. If anyone should move this stuff forward, it should be JSS.

Donna, I don't think it goes against being a die-hard Perry fan. I am a major Perry fan.....but I am also enjoying what JSS is bringing to Journey right now. To me.....liking what JSS is bringing, takes nothing away from me being a Perry fan. After watching the JSS Live at the Gods 2002 dvd, I can definately see what an electrifying frontman JSS is with a great voice.....so to me he can only be an asset to Journey. :)

I, for one, never did! I have said here before that I did see Augeri once, and he was good. Obviously, though, he was never really able to 'reach out and grab you' as an audience, like Steve Perry could, and now I'm certain JSS will. Soto's putting a 21st century spin on classic Journey music, and the crowds are eating it up!!!! He's rockin' the house, and I'm personally ready for more from him!!!

Most of us here hadn't heard the bootlegs of Augeri's performances early on. He had a great voice but he was just never consistent enough to pull off the Journey material on a regular basis. Heck, he even didn't sound consistently good on the new stuff he recorded with the band, not to mention the older, more difficult to sing stuff.

I'm in as well. I didn't get a chance to catch a show on this tour, but have been keeping up with the clips you guys are posting (Thanks to all who've shared). Being a big fan of both Steves, the change was difficult to accept, even though I've been a long time fan of JSS also. Though I'm still unhappy about the way things went down-I think most of us would agree that the way Steve's departure has been handled is awkward at best-I have to agree that JSS is knocking my socks off. It is good to see the band so energized again, though I have to be fair and say that they were in this mode back in '98 on the Vacation's Over tour too.

In any event, it is what it is and, just as I was happy to have Augeri in the band to "let the Journey continue", so too am I thrilled that JSS is now in and moving the band forward. Welcome aboard Jeff! You're doing one amazing job!

I think you're right NIG.

deb, if you like gods you have to get the queen & talisman dvds. i'm watching my queen dvd right now because i'll be loaning it to a friend of mine later today & god only knows when & if she'll ever return it! };C)

the dvds have hidden videos... did you find it deb?

Donna, I too m a MAJOR fan of SP. He has been my hero since I was 12 years old,and even I turned to mush when I saw him come out at the WOF last year.I swear I was like a little girl, and my girlfriend laughed at me.My hands were shaking trying to take pics!!
He is the KING and pioneer of vocals in the MR genre, and what most vocalists are measured by.
Like JSS,most other vocalists out there,he inspired me to become a singer as well.
I have known about JSS for years, have the majority of his body of work, and was PSYCHED when I heard he was "filling in"!!I was 2nd row at the Nissan show, and thought immediatley that he was EXACTLY what Journey needs to put them back into the main stream. Not only is he a great vocalist but an AWESOME show man.The girls think he is hot,the guys think he is cool, and like you said looks young enough to bring in a younger audience.
Very much like SP in many ways,IMO.
I would be lying if I didn't say that I didn't feel bad for SA.I can only imagine what he must be going through psychologically.I am really glad that he is converting the SP fans, who see him.
I am glad you came out of the darkness, and into the light.:)[/quote]

Michael, that was cute about your shaky hands at the WOF...I was doing the same, I'm surprised my pics turned out so well (I wonder if Jeff got to shake SP's hand there). I'll always be a major Perryloon, too...but, I have to say that I am feeling more positive about JSS being in the band now (at least, I think he will be permanent from all the talk) because he does have a fire in his belly for this music. I have no doubt that Jeff would do the "I'm not worthy" bow to SP, like I saw Deen C. do to Smitty at the HOB & that makes me feel good about this. Jeff has the respect & SP is one of his heroes. ("just don't get cocky, kid") ...

HOTS doesn't.
She is infatuated with Deen because he sounds like Steve Perry, yet wants to stomp on Augeri and Soto's innards because they sound like Steve Perry.
Got that?

The band will never be able to break away from being a greatest hits band. Those songs are the mainstay.

Highlight for me was Deen. He conducted the band and set the pace for the show. He does not sound like Perry at all, imo, but he has his own remarkable voice and his delivery was wonderful to watch. He is like Perry, in that his face is wonderful to watch when he is singing. Being a great looking guy does help. The crowd loved his "Open Arms" and "Faithfully." People around me womdered why he was not the lead vocalist. He has great range without effort

Apparently, you think that Deen sounds like Perry, Noble. You didn't read my review well.

Never presume to do my thinking for me. It could keep you awake nights.

JSS has a good voice as do all the other Journey tribute vocalists. They have not moved "this stuff forward" any more than JSS has. It is simply paying tribute to a once great band and their very unique vocalist, imo.
