It seems Distant Voice got the Uncle Joe Benson interview right, but as MUCH ,as I would LOVE to have a new album from Perry, I sure DON'T want Perry to tell us goodbye.... that would be very sad!

I don't know, IF it turns out to be correct that Perry will be releasing a Farewell album, THAT would be infinitely better than no album at all.

This person is not prophetic. Steve does an interview with Joe Benson every year. He does a Q&A or posts a message with us every year. Not hard to predict that. Steve and I didn't discuss doing the Q&A until last week so there is NOT A CHANCE that this person predicted this.

.......................................

It would be understandable and would probably simply be a labor of love to his fans and for no other reason, in my opinion.

Great, thanks Lora. So, except for the fact that DV can be entertaining in his/her posts, he/she is guessing just like the next person when it comes to Steve Perry.

PS - Please tell Steve something he's probably never heard, will you: Go into the studio and record new material!!!

Thanks. :D

Right! Many here find the putrid posts of a couple of the posters funny as hell and I'm not allowed to laugh at someone who is getting a royally deserved ass kicking?

I didn't write the post, I just enjoyed it. It should be framed.

If you wouldn't spend so much time lurking in the Booze and Sex thread, you wouldn't be so repressed.

The fact that you enjoyed such a post is very telling.

It's possible that Perry appreciates having fans who want him to record ten years on. I reckon there's nothing wrong with demonstrating to him that there's still a demand for a new album.

I can't imagine Steve Perry reading my comments and reacting like you. My comment(s) is nothing but a compliment. If you want to take it as an annoyance or an insult, feel free, but it's not directed TO you. It's directed TO Perry.

I'm sure he's probably glad that there are people who STILL want him to record new music. You act as if that's a bad thing, which it isn't.

I am hoping that the Perry email list is still in effect at Fan Asylum. In the past, anyone who had signed up would receive an email if there was something new regarding Perry posted there.

No. It's not a bad thing. Look at my damn avatar, for heaven's sake - you can clearly see which side I'm on. I would love to hear new stuff from him.

It just seems to me that for years now, that is the only thing that people want to hear from him and when time goes on and he doesn't release a CD, everyone starts bitching about it, saying he "owes" soemthing to his fans, blah blah. I am of the opinion that he owes nothing to anyone and if he wants to record, he will.... if not...then he won't, end of story.

And, he has been hearing this for years, so he already knows that people want it. He has yet to do it so clearly he is in no hurry. Maybe the time isn't right for him. Maybe he just doesn't want to. Maybe he has a CD coming out in 3 months. Maybe he isn't ready or is working on something. Who knows? I'm quite sure Perry is already quite well aware that his fans would love new material from him.

My point is all the debating over him recording and touring again, and why he is or is not doing so, and what he owes people (ugh) has gotten old. Almost as old as tapegate.

Fan Asylum is hosting a Steve Perry Q&A session. We have activated the following email address where questions can be submitted until Thursday, November 16 at 5:00 pm Pacific Time: SPQuestions@fanasylum.com. At that time, the email address will be disabled.

As before, Steve's responses to questions will be posted on the Fan Asylum site - he will not be replying directly to emails.

We have been getting bunches of emails over the past month and have seen lots of questions on the various fan forums regarding the recently re-issued Journey & Steve Perry catalog. There has been a lot of excitement but some confusion around this, so here's the chance to ask your questions. Since there will be a large volume of emails received and Steve would like to get to as many questions as possible, please be brief and to the point when asking your question.

Good.

Great. Why should I shut up and not say what my wishes are, because you're upset about some fans' attitude?

And, he has been hearing this for years, so he already knows that people want it. He has yet to do it so clearly he is in no hurry. Maybe the time isn't right for him. Maybe he just doesn't want to. Maybe he has a CD coming out in 3 months. Maybe he isn't ready or is working on something. Who knows? Oh, okay, I'll stop saying it then. You know what? If you're bitter about something, direct it to someone who has it "out" for Perry, or someone who is constantly bagging on him. All I said was that I would like to hear newly recorded music from him and you jump here with both feet and direct your sarcasm at me, right out of the chute. I think it's undeserved.

My point is all the debating over him recording and touring again, and why he is or is not doing so, and what he owes people (ugh) has gotten old. Almost as old as tapegate.

Then stop reading those comments. This entire thread was started by Lora and so far, I haven't seen anyone doing what you're describing...then again, I haven't read all the comments either.

You are ASSUMING that I am of the mind of those who think he OWES us anything, and I do NOT think he owes us anything. All I'm saying is that it would be great to hear some newly recorded material from him, no more no less. Okay? Now, can you get off my back and go pick on someone who hates Perry? :)

LOL! Didn't mean to pick on you fred.

What you wrote originally was "PS - Please tell Steve something he's probably never heard, will you: Go into the studio and record new material!!!"

The "please tell him somethig he's never heard" part came off a little snarky sounding, that's all. Sounded like you were picking on him a little. Which is why I said can we please get off the guy's ass about it. Apologies if that's not the way you inteded it.

I'm not bitter about anything. My sarcasm was directed to those in general who do get snarky about his recording habits, or lack thereof. Further apologies that you got caught in my crossfire.

I will now go find some Perry-haters to pick on. I suspect Back Talk has a better crop though, so maybe I need to go there.

No, I meant it exactly the way I said it. If I was going to be "snarky," there's a million ways to do it and using the rolling eyes smiley face, or the one with the twisted look or any of those would work really well.

I wouldn't be so sure that he feels so confident about his audience. FLOTSM sold far less than Street Talk...and Trial By Fire sold half the number of units than ROR did...which itself was a commercial disappointment compared to Escape and Frontiers. On top of that...he's been out of the public eye for a decade.

I'd say that Perry might well need - and certainly deserves - as much encouragement as possible before he risks releasing anything new.

If the diehard internet fan base feel easy-going or indifferent about whether he comes back or not - if THEY feel the subject is old and tired - then...well, that's the LAST message we want to send him.

So I hope the Q+A is deluged with appeals for him to come back...

I have never been that sure of many things in my life but I feel positive that Steve Perry knows that his fans would be overjoyed to hear from him again, without being told, again and again and again.................The man has more than a few fan sites that only wish for his health and happiness and would never put pressure on him to perform and they would never insinuate that he lacks confidence and needed assurance that he was still wanted. That's my opinion anyway.

As a diehard Steve Perry Fan, I NEVER said the subject of "letting him know that we want to hear new music from him would be considered "old and tired". From my stand point, it is MORE about FANS complaining & getting angry because he is NOT doing what THEY want him to do for them. That is where I was coming from on my point of view.

As for me though, I accept whatever "he wants" to offer the fans!

I think there's been some misinterpretation or misunderstanding of what some of us have said. I didn't see any posts that suggested that anyone was going to be angry if he didn't say anything about a new recording. I know I, and I think Matt never meant to suggest that we didn't want to hear anything from Steve if he wasn't doing something new. We're just hoping he will do something and a lot of talk has been around lately suggesting that might be the case.
